This restaurant has been given an upgrade in its appearance and the ambition of the kitchen. But it is hard to work out what it really is. It is a village gastropub with a menu containing many deconstructed pub dishes, served as posh nosh. Is it also trying to be fine dining, with prices to match? I had the fish... More

Food...very expensive, staff...pretty average, value for money....low. Decor....oh dear, once inside you could be in a million other F&B painted gastro's or Burnham Market. The Blue Ball beckons.

I've eaten lunch at The Rupert Brooke a number of times in the past and it was becoming sadly rather run-down and shabby looking, the take-over and renovation by Chestnut Inns is a vast improvement. I've been a big fan of their first venture, The Packhorse Inn in Moulton since opening so was looking forward to trying their second restaurant.... More

Clearly popular with the young families in the area, we struggled to make ourselves heard over the screaming children running around the tables, their braying parents and the regular shouts of 'service' from the kitchen. The Red Poll burgers were good but at £14 each they should be. Served with chips but no other veg or salad. The ham and... More

We went for dinner with very high hopes having heard good things about this restaurant after the refurbishment, which has been done well. We had looked online so knew that it would be rather expensive for Cambridge area. I know my standards are high, we eat out a lot in France, but the food here was disappointing. Game shepherd's pie... More

Visited The Rupert Brooke for lunch on a Saturday to catch up with some friends who were visiting. Four adults and 4 children (ages 3-9) all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Families are well catered for, staff are very friendly and attentive - when you need them they are there but not intrusive. Would definitely return. The banoffee pudding and Nutella... More

I( used the Rupert Brooke several times in the past. It had slid slowly down hill and for the last few years I would only use it for a drink and then reluctantly. I hosted some French friends here this week and took a risk. The newly refurbished RB is excellent. It is bright and airy and welcoming. My friends... More

The new décor is lovely, giving the restaurant a real sense of class, and the staff were extremely professional and polite. Then the compliments stop there. There was one vegetarian main......Mediterranean Tart ...costing £14. So I had little choice but to have it......this was a sheet of puff pastry, turned up at the edges filled with some roasted vegetables and... More
