Lunch for friends of 60 years

After visiting the grave of an old mate from school, we went to the George and Dragon for lunch. Service was prompt and very attentive from menus ranging from A La Carte to Special low cost 2 or 3 Courses lunches. Selections were made from all varieties of menu, which did not upset the delightful... read more

Four of us ordered a meal which took a long time to come. Three of the meals were judged excellent although mine was not. I had Italian chicken, the pasta was tough and the chicken even tougher. The tomato sauce was lovely but the rest of the meal was actually inedible. Sadly we were not asked part way through our... More

Went for a meal with my husband last week. As soon as we walked in the door the cold hit you. We sat down and ordered our meal, the food was ok. Unfortunately I got colder and colder, when we went to the bar to pay the bill I said it was far too cold and the man behind the... More

Visited with a friend for lunch, having been here a handful of times in the past. A traditional pub, the decor is a little dated but perfectly ok. We sat in the patio/garden area at the back of the building which was pleasant in the sunshine, although we would have appreciated the bird poo being cleaned off the tables. The... More

Couldn't fault this place. Excellent food and excellent service. Originally went to a different pub down the road and left before ordering as it was very unappealing. This place was very clean, friendly and the food was of a very high standard. Will definitely come again.

Oh dear. Just had a complete comedy meal at the usually reliable George and Dragon. Hope this is a one off and not a sign that the ever-expanding group has got unmanageable. Only two waiting staff on, no one behind the bar, and only two kitchen staff (neither, on this evidence, a chef). Here's a simple suggestion - when you've... More

This was a busy Thursday lunch swelled by our 30 or so walking group. They do a fixed price, 2 course lunch but we were not made aware when we ordered at 9 a.m. the same morning! Two of the group who were not walking but joined us for lunch did order from the 2 course deal and good value... More

All our food including my kids looked like it was all cooked in a microwave..didnt taste fresh at all . Such a shame as... More

After a Sunday morning walk we stopped at the George And Dragon for lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the menu choices. The starter and main (a lovely piece of plaice with new potatoes and 5 vegetables) arrived promptly. At £15 for two courses we thought it very good value for money. Judging by the number of... More

Was told the reason that Beef Strogonoff was £18.50 that it was top Sirloin steak . Well mine came with lumps of Stewing Steak and a burnt sauce on top . Having used this restaurant for many years I went around the back to the Kitchen to find out what went wrong . I was confronted by people smoking and... More
