Very good - and great value wine flights

Went to Alimentum on the first night of a two night gastro break in Cambridge. Its a little unfair on Alimentum that it was completely overshadowed by the utter brilliance of Midsummer House. It is inconceivable that the food we were served justified a Michelin star. My starter was what it said on the menu: asparagus and duck egg (accurately cooked) and morels, albeit tiny little morsels of morels that tasted of nothing much. So nothing greater than the sum of its parts - and for these prices, you would expect more than... More

The Sunday Supper Club is a fantastic evening where you get to try new dishes and comment on them and the accompanying wines. Unfortunately, despite informing the restaurant I was Celiac when I booked, I had a strong adverse gluten reaction to something in the middle to end of the meal and was sick and ill for a day. It... We needed a treat after six weeks of not drinking for Lent, and lunch at Alimentum with friends was our reward. Our table gave us a great view of the kitchen, which contributed to the feeling of this being a foodie event. That and theatrical service, with a friendly and efficient waitress diplomatically breaking into our conversation to describe our... More

Highly enjoyable food and extremely good value for money for a Michelin star restaurant. We arrived as part of a large group to celebrate a friend's birthday, and the staff seemed very accommodating.

We visited Alimenum for my birthday on Saturday 21st March. We could be described as foodies, although neither my partner nor I have ever eaten in a Michelin starred restaurant before, so we were excited to see what all the fuss was about. When we arrived a bowl of delicious olives and two bread crisps topped with tapenade, tomatoes and... More

The restaurant was nicely decorated, the staff were friendly at first but not efficient. The food was neither sufficient or appetising. I would never have given alimentum a Michelin star.

Had a very enjoyable evening with no disappointments - other than the fact that we did not have room to be able to have a dessert! Ambience, service, food and wine were all perfect.

With one Michelin star, Alimentum held great promise for an excellent meal. Sadly, whilst elements were good, the overall impression is average. We arrived early and were sat at the bar. The service here was off hand and not particularly welcoming. Not a great start but we were there for the restaurant, so not a problem. Once seated we elected... More

I had high expectations after reading all of the reviews. The wine recommendation was wonderful as was the appetizer. The experience took a turn for the worse when the four of us received our entrees. Every one of them was extremely salty. We informed our waitress and she was less than interested in our feedback. Following the salty meal our... More
