Nice looking pub, pleasant enough staff. But that's about it on the positive side. The menu is over-priced for what it is. Lamb burger dry & tasteless, bun inedible. Coleslaw from Cost-Co...? Overcooked poached egg on Welsh rarebit. Very average curry. A lazy attempt at gastro- pub food. Can't recommend for food.

It is disappointing that customers who use Trip Advisor to complain very rarely let us know when their are actually in the pub! I was working Saturday and remember your table and throughout your visit was unaware of any issues with your meals. We serve in the region of 1500 freshly cooked meals a week with very few issues. We were greeted by the manager and seated quickly. The Old Spring feels like a real treat but a look at the menu assures you that you are not breaking the bank. The furnishings, if a little hard, were stylish and 'country'. The food tasted fresh, looked appetising and was hearty and filling. Dessert wasn't needed but was welcomed (!)... More

We were told in our hotel that this is the pub with the best food in Cambridge. I am not entirely sure if this is the case but nevertheless, the food was rather upmarket for pub grub. Starters were more OK but my main dish of tuna steak was delicious, my husband's lamb burger more basic. There was a sweet... More

Very comfortable place with a fantastic atmosphere. Ideal place to meet friends for a drink. Nice decor, we'll lit, nice and clean. Has a patio and plenty of nooks and crannies to plonk yourself for a comfortable time. But.... Food is disappointing. Food is limited in choice and very expensive for what it is. For example, fish and chips is... More

Came upon this pub by chance. Really enjoyed our meal here, proper tasting pub food. Good choice on the menu and a selection of specials. Friendly staff, and lovely to eat outside on a hot summers day.

Bit of a non interior here - giving the impression of indecision on the part of whoever was responsible. Plain wooden furniture, plain walls, one abstract and one Mark Twain quote on one beam. I just found the place somewhat lacking in character. Mind you, the absence of music and TV was very welcome and the buzz of conversation filled... More

Very relaxing surroundings and nice decor. Good quality pub for with some interesting dishes on the menu. Comfortable place to visit as a lone female for a quiet evening. Very calm feel unlike most pubs near city centres.

We ate here three times in the week we were in Cambridge. Good food; large choice of draft beer; friendly staff. Tasty hamburgers. Indoor and outdoor seating.

We tried their burgers and salads which were pretty decent. I would probably go back to meet friends for drinks, and try a few of the other options on the menu. I like the Old Spring menu which give a few more interesting options than the typical pub fare, but it has some old standbys if anyone in your party... More

We used the pub as a base to visit Cambrige. Great beer and food, efficient staff and reaaonable prices. The landlord let us camp overnight in the small carpark in our campervan (a bit noisy near the road). The pub is near the river and about a 15min walk into the centre.
