What a charming pub with history and pictures of WWII planes, as well as Crick & Watson discovering DNA. A pub worth searching out and buying a 'pint' or two.

I visited with some American friends and I think we were all embarrassed when the large plates arrived with a bowl of fish pie and some overcooked carrots and broccoli sprawled across the plate. The fish pie had a good flavor but the sauce was pasty and there was more hard boiled egg than fish. The fish and chips were... More

I was recently on a research trip in Cambridge, and The Eagle became my go-to pub. I was staying in King's College, and the Eagle is conveniently located on Ben'et, just of King's Parade. Each day my colleague and I would stop in after our research conference workshops and have a few pints. i went with the Abbot Ale, which... More

Ambience, decent prices, good fish & chips but the reason to be here is the two major historical events in its history. Crick & Watson announced their DNA discovery here. I mean to say, the essence of life, right here, imagine! And the ceiling, all those young pilots who burnt their squadron numbers on the ceiling during WWII before going... More

A Greene King pub with a wide selection of beers including IPA, IPA Gold and St Edmunds. The atmosphere is excellent and the pub is covered in history. The Eagle does get busy.

This place was absolutely packed to the rafters but our order was taken efficiently and the food which was good honest pub grub... More

There can't be many pubs that have their own Wikepedia article... but this is one of them. Aside from being four and a half centuries old, it was an RAF hang-out in the 2nd World War and has the preserved graffiti to prove it. A few years after that it was here that James Watson made the first announcement of... More

Before writing this I had seen reviews on this pub and was very surprised to read how poorly it had been rated. I can honestly say that our experience was very good indeed. We had a marvellous waitress on both the evenings we ate there. Melody went that extra mile in every sense of the word and made us feel... More
