Nice pub, average food

This is a famous, historic pub and is probably worth a visit. It's not too expensive for Cambridge. The food was ok but very average quality and not a very exciting menu.

I have frequented this pub for many years now. The atmosphere here is fantastic, added to by the clientele and staff. The service is fast and efficient, and the drinks thirst quenching. The food is of a good standard, and great value for the price. A great place to stop by during a tour of Cambridge, or just to enjoy... More

Great pub. Very busy but we were able to relax once we found a seat. Highly recommend a visit - don't forget to look up at the ceiling :-)

From the outside it looks like an ordinary pub : good choice of beers and typical pub food . The added value is the historical life of this pub , and the fact that Watson and Crick announced here the discovery of DNA ( the secret of life itself ).

Popped in for a drink prior to going to theatre. Sat in wooden panelled room to right as you enter pub. The Eagle has a historic pedigree going back to 2nd world war. Comfortable and pleasant place for a quick drink.

I visit The Eagle for lunch most times I visit Cambridge and invariably leave as a happy customer - good food choices & good beer, plus the historical Watson/Crick factor. However, the food this time was a disappointing offering - the chicken-chorizo salad was poorly constructed and greasy; rather than small spicy chunks of chorizo mixed in with bite-size chicken... Far too crowded. Nowhere to sit. Only one toilet so massive queue. Miserable staff. I have coeliac disease and food was not suitable. They do not care about dietary requirements. Waitress advised us to go elsewhere! Even the famous writing on the ceiling is peeling off!! Disappointed.

A historical watering hole - but over priced drinks and food. Staff grumpy and unhelpful Unless you want the kick out of going to it for its historical associations, then do yourself a favour and go elswhere

I've been here a few times but since I've started eating vegan (was vegetarian before) I noticed they don't really have any mains that are vegan. There is a wide selection of non-vegetarian/non-vegan food, so if you don't really have any dietary requirements, you'll find something nice, but I wouldn't go again if I planned to eat. The atmosphere is... More
