Lovely old pub

We called in mid-afternoon for a late lunch and it was quite busy. Had an excellent pint of St Edmund's and ordered our food. The fish pie duly arrived, really hot and was very tasty. More choice than your average pub at a reasonable price.

A good range of ales and normal pub food. It was graduation day so I think we got it at a quiet time as there were very few people in there. In all just another pub!

When I was younger, I knew the Eagle as a pub. It has now expanded into serving food, which is of a reasonable quality for price. The Eagle still has its old charm and a good selection of beers. Of course any visitor should not miss the famous ceiling on which airmen left messages during WWII before leaving for a... More

We arrived half an hour early for a table that we had booked at the Chop House for my birthday, so we popped in the Eagle for a drink whilst we waited. First impressions were fab - I'm a great fan of the Great British Pub and this is exactly that - a great atmosphere, good drink selection and wonderfully... More

Nice ambience, nice food and ok service. Service at the bar can be a bit slow but aside from that I love this place, loads of history, nice surroundings and good food!

The Eagle pub was recommended to us by our student guide on the punt. It was very busy and noisy, which at first almost put us off staying, as we prefer quieter places, but we managed to find a table and someone already eating commented that the food was really good, and really hot. We were not disappointed. The food... More

This is a great pub, with good food and selection of drinks. It is here that Crick & Watson celebrated after discovering that DNA is a double helix. It is also here that the end of WWII was celebrated by burning images onto the ceiling of the back room, including the outline of a naked lady. Because of its notoriety... More

Did not eat here and I am glad that I didn't. A pint of Landlord was £4.80 and I then had to sit at a table where I caught frequent wafts of the urinal tablets from the gents downstairs. For my second pint I made the mistake of not asking for a sample and went for the Abbot. It was... More

I have been to the Eagle a few times now, sometimes for a meal and other times just for a few drinks. The building itself is full of character and is always thriving which can cause a small issue of finding a seat, with some of the seating feeling a little cramped. The meals themselves are very good value and... More

Nice, old pub with one of the biggest burger I ever tried in Europe. Fish and chips is also good, but do not expect a steak if you order the succulent steak. It is served in small pieces and plenty of sauce
