Food is ok

The food here was good - nothing special. The restaurant does have a lot of history and it provides a great environment for a nice meal. If you're looking for top quality food you could be slightly disappointed. Instead, come here for drinks.

Had a pre-theatre meal and drink at the Eagle. Took pot luck and was heaving as usual, but hung around for a few minutes and got a table. (BTW you can book tables, even though really a pub (with food) (Tip: if you register with them, there is usually a money off voucher (this time £5 off when spending over... More

Historical place that relies mostly on one time visitors. Traditional fish and chips entree was the worse fish and chips I had during my entire stay in Cambridge. I guess the food would have been more than appealing during the war. I feel sorry for Watson and Crick!

This pub is forever associated with major events, such as the announcement by Crick and Watson. This makes it a significant place to visit. It is, in truth, just a little shabby and average - but nonetheless, not a place to be missed by any budding academic.

Second visit here last night and first time for food. The atmosphere is great a function of its history. with the RAF room a particular highlight both interesting and sad in terms of lost lives. Foodwise it's not so good due to over cooking and serving meals that have clearly been cooked earlier. Would recommend highly for drinks and to... More

But not so good for the food, it's ok just standard pub fare. But best if all is the room with all the ww2 soldiers messages and all the memorabilia and pictures dotted around. It's really quite humbling and sad and yet quite uplifting and hopeful. Difficult to describe really unless you go there and if you are in Cambridge... More

Great pub to visit in the afternoon or evening. I've tried the steak and ale pie, the salmon and haddock pie, and a daily special chicken with wild mushrooms pie here. All of them were delicious and filling. So good! Lunch menu has a scotch egg starter that was very tasty too. The history at this pub is also worth... More

A really lovely English pub, the ambience and range of seating inside made for a great place to meet up with a date/friends/group of friends. Added bonus is the history that goes with this pub. Nice all round and can imagine the outside seating is lovely in the summer.

Every time some relatives or friend come to visit us to Cambridge we go The Eagle. It´s a example of a traditional pub even when it´s full of tourist. But it´s a place where you can enjoy a good beer and some nice dishes while talking about Cambridge´s history. Live example are the corner of Crick and Watson and all... More
