Took the family on a Monday night to celebrate end of exams. First observation - very busy! Monday? Need to book. We tried a good range of a la carte dishes and all agreed that the food was fabulous, lovely menu very well cooked. The only minor gripe is the delay between courses which on a school night with a... In the last few months I've had three meals at the Oak Bistro. The food is always delicious and freshly prepared, and the service is attentive. It offers consistently high standards.

We found this place on trip advisor. It it is on the ring road and I'm sure we'd have walked right past it had we not gone there specifically. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. Priceyish bit definitely worth it. Ideal for a quiet, romantic night out with comfortable unpretentious surroundings and great food.

We booked a table to celebrate our daughter's recent engagement and were encouraged by a previous visit...we checked the weather forecast 24 hours ahead and decided to ask for a table in the walled garden...as it turned out the weather was chilly in the extreme...so when we arrived we asked whether we might sit indoors instead. The response from the... More

I'd heard good things about the Oak Bistro, which older Cambridge residents may recall was once the Honest Lawyer pub on Hyde Park Corner opposite the Catholic church. What I'd heard proved true when my wife and I made our first visit. The interior is very pleasant - several small eating areas, including a heated outdoor courtyard, with simple, tasteful... More

We went here last night and the food and service were fabulous. Initially you think it's tiny from the outside but the restaurant goes back a long way and the garden area is beautiful. Starter of pork belly then the duck leg for main. All were cooked spot on. My husband had the steak which was huge and perfect. We... More

June 2013. Didn't know Cambridge, so went on the recommendations on Trip Advisor. What a perfect evening. On a balmy summers evening, ask for a table in the courtyard. Food was wonderful, ambiance and setting great and the staff helped made the evening special. We went on the waiter's wine recommendation and what a nice surprise - not only had... More

A Friday evening meal; a compact menu but what is on offer is excellently presented and cooked very well. A good choice of Wine including by the glass at fair prices. Service is attentive and efficient. All in all a good choice in Cambridge.

Food was top quality. Starters of scallops and prawns were both equally fresh and incredibly tasty. The scallops practically melted in the mouth! Main course of beef and swordfish steaks cooked well and the flavours executed well. Dessert was good to. Only downfall was the fondant being slightly dry on the outside. One of our best dining experiences in Cambridge.... More

I had previously made a reservation for this restaurant which had not been recorded (see previous review) but decided to give it another try due to the good reviews. My friend and I had the set lunch menu which at £16 represents good value for money. However, we found the food generally uninspiring - the pork loin rather undercooked, though... More
