Rather expensive but quite good

Good service, food almost to match that, interesting local drinks, and a nice atmosphere once you get in and off the main road. Recommended for a nice lunch.

Nice amosphere with great selection of food and drink. Already planning my second visit. Upon entering we were greeted by warm staff who made us feel at home. We are already planning our next visit. Me and my colleagues had always heard good things about this place and we are so glad that we went. My chicken was so nicely... More

We had organised a reunion in Cambridge and one of our number booked the Oak Bistro. It's a cosy restaurant with only a few covers but well worth a visit. So why a 5 star? The menu was brief but well thought through - my wife prefers not to read a book, one page is plenty. I had a duck... More

Our meal was very good and the staff was very attentive to any and all of our needs. It was a little walk from the city center but worth the stroll.

My friend and I had heard that the Oak Bistro did a great Chocolate fondant for desert and so decided we had to go and try it. Our schedules were very busy so we enquirer as to whether we could go at 10pm despite last orders being at 9:30 and they agreed which was really great of them. The fondants... More

Margaret and I were kindly entertained at the Oak Bistro by some kind suppliers as a Christmas thank you. There is a a great selection of courses, and having opted for scallops to start followed by an excellent Rib Eye steak as a main closed off with a excellent cheese board we all left replete and joyful after plenty to... Briefly, the location was convenient with car parking 5 minutes walk away at Queen Anne car park. The Lentil soup was excellent. The main course though was very disappointing; the pasta was average and the accompanying roasted veg unappetising. Service was OK.

Have eaten here half a dozen times in the last year. The food has lost its edge on the last 2 occasions. Mediocre at best. It seems as if the chef has changed. Front of house is good as always. Had vegetarian and lamb steak last time and duck and lamb shank this. None were special , lacked seasoning and... More

Having visited for a few years now, possibly 8/9 times it just gets better in terms of food quality, menu choice and welcome. Not the cheapest on the block although there is a fixed price 2/3 course lunch menu. Book table on line with confidence. Recently had red mullet there on risotto - delicious. Duck salad for starters recommended.

Loved this place. It's only small but what food and service. The owner and his staff are fantastic. He even turned on the heaters in the back courtyard so we could have a couple of drinks after the meal with a ciggie. Would recommend this place highly.Food is amazing.
