Some people recommended this place to me, so even though the pictures on Tripadvisor did not look promising, I gave it a try. I should learn to follow my instincts. We ordered the set menu (2 courses), which by the way does not seem to ever change. The meal started quite well, the served us bread with some dip, the... More

Went here for a meal on Saturday night last weekend, I was recommended to go here by a friend as they said it was one of the best eateries in Cambridge. Have to say, every thing served to us was superb. We shared three starters as could not decide which one to have. Duck salad, scallops and king prawns. All... More

This is not a regular pub. It's a gourmet pub that serves traditional English food with a few twists. The atmosphere is great, trendy, neat and sophisticated at the same time. Currently they have a few paintings for sale and those are indeed a nice touch, displayed on the walls of the several different rooms. The gnocchi starter reminded me... More

We last ate here on 15th July, in the outside bit, don't know what to call it, oh I see someone else has called it the terrace. So, the terrace. As usual - we've eaten here several times - the food was good and the service excellent. I had linguini and tiger prawns; the old git had king prawn starter... More

I have visited this restaurant many times over the last 9 years or so, though I believe it was called Lawyers when I first visited. On Saturday night we sat outside in the terrace, under one of the large waterproof umbrellas, each with 4 individual heating elements (essential if it's normal UK summer weather). We didn't need the heating, but... More

Top quality food. The menu has many delicious options, I went for the confit duck leg, and my partner the Cod. Both were excellent, cooked perfectly. For desert we had the Fondant and the Sorbet. The Fondant was lovely, gooey in the middle, and the sorbet was excellent and served nicely in glasses. The staff were friendly and the waitress... More

Very nice and friendly, excellent selection of wines and food! Located on a rather busy street but once you get into the restaurant you forget the about the traffic.

The Oak Bistro (www.theoakbistro.co.uk) was recommended to us by a local. We had a really great night out. For starters we had king prawns and wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil - both delicious. For main course I had a second starter of crisp pork belly with apple compote and a side of mashed potato and my husband had aubergine... More

The food is good, staff very courteous, manager charming and professional. In fact they bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable. Phillip the owner deserves to do well.

Although only rated 6th in Cambridge I would put this restaurant in the top three, and for me it is my first choice. Ate there twice at the end of June and our guests on the second occasion said it was the best food they had eaten out in some time. Insignificant from the outside it is warm and cosy... More
