Sadly I discovered this evening that one of my favourite restaurants has closed after many years of serving me excellent meals at reasonable prices. Turned up for the usual Chicken Espagnole (which was taken off the menu when it was revamped but the chef still obliged) and found out it was being ripped apart. I have been a regular since... More

This famous little Cambridge restaurant has closed!. I had been coming to this restaurant for over 30 years and have just found out it closed early in May 2014. Another piece of Cambridge history bites the dust! It was a great little place on Free School Lane and a haven for students and locals alike

This little Greek taverna has been like part of my life; I've been eating there periodically since I was a student 38 years ago......but when I looked in this lunchtime, the Eraina had gone; all the signage has vanished and the interior was in the process of being ripped out. I asked the workmen if the restaurant was moving, and... More

Food and drinks here are very reasonably priced. Just £2.60 for a glass of red wine. (about £4.50 elsewhere in Cambridge) - The wine is quite weak and mediocre, but drinkable. The seating is not very comfortable bu the choice on the menu is huge! - They have indian curries, Kebabs, Steaks, Mixed Grills and whole selection of mains which... More

The Eraina is an institution in Cambridge (the one that isn't over 800+ years old). You get what you pay for and I think, at those prices, the restaurant does more than a cracking job. Been going there for over 15 years and the staff are always really polite and friendly to me. But it's a place where, food-wise and... More

We found the staff very friendly and the restaurant is in a time warp which makes it so unique for Cambridge. The prices on the menu were very cheap and it was not very busy for a Saturday night -this should have been a warning as to the quality of the food which was unfortunately very very poor indeed. This... More

Food awful, owner and waiter need training that you do not hassle customers, interrupt their conversations and stare at them throughout their visit! Food was beyond awful, everybody had chips on the right of the plate! Poorly cut and sliced carrots, peas hard, small and tasteless. All meals served with rice in the middle if the plate with a different... More

Returned to Eraina for dinner after a gap of several years and we weren't disappointed - it was just as good as we remembered. Decent quality food at a sensible price; the desserts were particularly good. The drink options were a bit limited and not very inspiring in terms of quality, but the food - and the vast menu -... Sadly cannot understand favourable reviews - greatly disappointed. Service friendly and helpful, ambiance OK, but food pretty awful : watery soup, cold and soggy chips (served with rice!), tasteless reheated food, poor vegetables, and coffee just as bad. Cheap, but we left most of it, including the coffee - only good thing was the side salad with feta. Would not... More

We couldn't even finish our mains!! The food was tasteless, starters taken out of a can, the rice was dry and old, as were peas and carrots. And the octopus... it neither looked nor tasted like it! When we complained, the staff was very rude, completely denied any possibility of us being unsatisfied, telling us not to come back if... More
