Busy Saturday evening with locals blocking the bar but still standing space prior to be showing to our booked table for dinner. One of the chsirs at the table had a slit back and the alternative chair was wobbly, third time lucky! Food was ok, reasonable portion size but vegetables were a bit soggy... read more

My brother and I arrived lunch time (thursday) at abt 13.10. We had not realised what a popular pub/restaurant this is. We had a hospital appointment at 15.00 and thought there would be plenty of time. The food arrived about 14.10 when we were beginning to give up and cancelling. Staff said a big party had come in unexpectedly -... More

Won't ever go for a meal at this pub again four of us went for a meal £15.95 Toad in the whole smallest portion ever sides over cooked almost black when we asked was there any vegetables or potatoes we were informed that we should have ordered extras as this is how the meal comes for that price had we... Have been several times for evening meals and Sunday lunches, however am prompted to write after we met friends for brunch recently. We had a super brunch here on a Saturday, coffee fresh and the full English was excellent. We were one of only three other tables so I may have tripped over my laces to tell you about this... More

We didn't think to book so when we arrived on Saturday lunchtime and it was packed, we weren't optimistic of getting a table as 1. I was on crutches and couldn't manage stairs 2. We had a spaniel with us. The staff were so, so helpful and managed to get us a table in 'The Lobby' so both me and... More

Having previously enjoyed a meal here and posted a positive review can't believe a restaurant can change so quickly. We arrived to a frosty reception and a strange atmosphere , the staff seemed to be nervous of a draconian manager and generally ill at ease which all seemed a little ,no a lot unfriendly. The food was at best average... More

The Queens Head is a charming pub in a lovely location. We came for the 2pm second sitting which meant the car park was very crowded. Very nice decor and ambience inside albeit rather cold. Staff were pleasant and friendly with a laid back manner which masked the reality that they were actually rather incompetent and indifferent. The food when... More

This is our second visit to The Old Queens Head and we know the sister pub the Royal Oak extremely well and appreciate the fabulous consistency tand the excellent service there in Marlow. They managed to squeeze us in if we arrived at midday but never actually looked very rushed off their feet to be truthfully. The food took an... More

The Old Queens Head is set in a picture book location at Penn, opposite the church and near the green and the lake. It is a 15 th century gastropub and oozes atmosphere with its exposed beams and rafters. It is definitely at the higher echelons for pub food with an innovative menu, up market positioning and a good level... More

After an initial hesitancy to serve us due to being extremely busy the staff could not have been more helpful. Found us a table for two in the bar (we didn't book). The roast beef was EXCELLENT and well worth the £15 - we got the last two available which just shows how busy it was. Definitely recommend eating here... More
