Great but very busy and vary slow

The Old Queens Head is set in a picture book location at Penn, opposite the church and near the green and the lake. It is a 15 th century gastropub and oozes atmosphere with its exposed beams and rafters. It is definitely at the higher echelons for pub food with an innovative menu, up market... read more

We didn't think to book so when we arrived on Saturday lunchtime and it was packed, we weren't optimistic of getting a table as 1. I was on crutches and couldn't manage stairs 2. We had a spaniel with us. The staff were so, so helpful and managed to get us a table in 'The Lobby' so both me and... More

Having previously enjoyed a meal here and posted a positive review can't believe a restaurant can change so quickly. We arrived to a frosty reception and a strange atmosphere , the staff seemed to be nervous of a draconian manager and generally ill at ease which all seemed a little ,no a lot unfriendly. The food was at best average... More

The Queens Head is a charming pub in a lovely location. We came for the 2pm second sitting which meant the car park was very crowded. Very nice decor and ambience inside albeit rather cold. Staff were pleasant and friendly with a laid back manner which masked the reality that they were actually rather incompetent and indifferent. The food when... More

This is our second visit to The Old Queens Head and we know the sister pub the Royal Oak extremely well and appreciate the fabulous consistency tand the excellent service there in Marlow. They managed to squeeze us in if we arrived at midday but never actually looked very rushed off their feet to be truthfully. The food took an... More

After an initial hesitancy to serve us due to being extremely busy the staff could not have been more helpful. Found us a table for two in the bar (we didn't book). The roast beef was EXCELLENT and well worth the £15 - we got the last two available which just shows how busy it was. Definitely recommend eating here... More

The Old Queens Head has been my favourite local pub and restaurant for a number of years. It never disappoints, the food is great, the management and staff are always on top form and the building is attractive and immaculately presented. Equally Good for a quick beer with friends, quiet, intimate dining and a place to enjoy with more buoyant... More

We've eaten here several times for Sunday lunch when the place is buzzing. Summer is especially good with the attractive outdoor terrace. This visit was midweek dinner. Cosy (but noisy) downstairs, and chillier (in the winter) in the quieter in the week upper parts. Polite and well-meaning staff. Inventive and diverse frequently changing menu caters for all tastes with vegetarian... More

Had a business lunch here today and really enjoyed it. Well kept beer and a couple of perfectly cooked steaks. Good service too, whats not to like?
