I have always had good food at this pub until today we all opted for the roast beef and at 14-95 I was thinking this will be good .when it arrived I was shocked to see the beef jumping off the plate it was raw !!! When all four of us asked for it to be taken back to be... More

The pub is in a lovely setting and is very well kept. The inside is huge, with lots of seating spread over several levels. Because it's so spread around it avoids losing its cosy feel, which really works in its favour. We had a few drinks and were shown to a comfy table. Menu is good, lots of choice, both... More

I had been out at a meeting and decided to stop for lunch. There was no problem in adjusting the menu. The crispy Brie was excellent and good value. Great Guinness as well. I like the atmosphere at the pub,the staff are friendly. I will be using this establishment again.

I met a friend for Sunday lunch 4th Jan. When I arrived I was made to feel very welcome even though my friend was a bit late, but that was no problem and I was offered a seat near the fire while I waited. When my friend arrived he was offered a drink and was brought straight to our table... More

Sometimes you miss something just because it is too close to home. Always guilty of looking at restaurants in the city , because , well they are in the city, but the Old Queen's Head compares so favourably. Don't know how I haven't tried before but so glad I did tonight on a busy December evening. The staff were excellent... More

Friend recommended this place so we went today for Sunday lunch. Lovely attentive staff and fabulous Christmas decs and open fires. Dog friendly so nice to see some pooches wandering around. Only one vegetarian option however we were told we could mix and match our own meal if we wished. Gnocci was delicious and friends had roast beef which they... More

We had our Christmas Party there mid week. The food was not bad, but wasn't much nicer than cheaper alternatives in the area. I think it would have felt a bit cosier if they had some music on. Go there if you like nice decor and if you want to take your dog with you.

Since the new owners took over the OQH I have eaten there twice and was impressed! The first time was a mid week light lunch when my sister and I both had King Prawn and Crab Bread and Butter Pudding. We died and went to Heaven - metaphorically speaking!! We ate in the bar area which is a bit noisy... More

Being regular patrons at this beautiful restaurant/pub, my mother in law decided to invite 37 of her close friends and family for a 60th birthday Sunday lunch. My partner and I wanted to make this special for my mother in law and so got in contact with Tina (the manager). Whilst we had our own area of the pub, the... More
