I visited Cafe Maitreya years ago, and I thought food it was great. I went again last Sunday for Sunday lunch and I wasn't that impressed. Food was OK, but nothing more than just OK. I remembered amazing experience from years before. It was also quite dirty, sink in the bathroom hasn't been cleaned properly for weeks. The decor is... More

If you fancy a change from the traditional fry-up and you're in Bristol, then try the 'Mega Breakfast' at 'Maitreya Social'. It's good value and substantial - vegetarian sausage, halloumi, wilted spinach etc. All washed down with organic juice and delicious hot chocolate - what's not to like? This establishment is also open in the evening for dinner. I've been... More

I have been here several times over the years, either with friends or my partner. There is always a friendly atmosphere with cheerful and helpful staff. The food was as good as always - very tasty and nicely presented.

You need to book ahead for this terrific vegetarian restaurant. Prices are shocking reasonable -- while food is a revelation!! I am not a vegetarian...but it's no hardship when the food is THIS GOOD!!

The good was fantastic tasty I actually fooled my partner who is French and they eat raw meat into thinking there may have been a meat option. Of course there wasn't and she wasn't too happy. After a while the food won her over even though she craves steak Blue and Steak Tartar. I will go again although she may... More

Ate here before going to a gig in Bristol. Booked early and arrived around 6:30. I was told that there was a table of ten coming in and that we should try and get in before them; good service. The food was imaginative and full of flavour. Tried one starter, marinated halloumi with noodle salad, and two mains, goat cheese... More

My recent trip was a little bit of a disappointment. The food was good, my starter being better tun my main - but I think that was more personal preference than culinary error! However the issue for me was that in a full restaurant to have two waiting staff, one of whom seemed to mainly be doing something else, struck... More

My wife and I are not vegetarians, but happy to eat vegetarian food. We decided to give Maitreya a try, mainly because of the reviews on here. The food was absolutely superb, the service was excellent, the organic wine was brilliant. We ordered different starters, mains and desserts, just so that we could sample 6 different dishes. Every dish was... More

I've been in Bath and Bristol for two days, mainly for the VegFest UK, and have experienced a few memorable restaurants already. Started with Green Rocket and Acorn in Bath, and tonight this place. I was sure that I wouldn't find better vegan food than in Acorn, I was wrong. Even though Acorn is a 5/5 restaurant, this place is... More
