great food

lovely for lunch and great for sitting outside in warm spring sun. I can highly recommend the fixed lunch time menu at £8.90 for two courses. service was a little slow not a problem for us as good to relax in sun but not good if you had limited time

This place is okay, reliable flavours and good range in dishes. Classical cuisine. Tastes nice and appropriately priced.

We were visiting friends for the weekend and they recommended this place for lunch, as it was recommended as a top restaurant for gluten allergy/intolerance sufferers. Not only were half the menu items labelled gluten free, a vast majority of the remainder were labelled that a gluten free alternative was available. As I suffer from milk and egg white allergy... On Friday 10th April I was dining alone as family were visiting relatives, and I had fancied eating out having had a long day at work. I hadn't dined alone for a while, and the interesting thing is that without the company of others, you are drawn into your surroundings, it just happens. The waitress/bar staff showed me to a... 5 of us booked a table at the Townhouse on a Thursday evening. We found the restaurant very cosyand the staff pleasant and accommodating. The food was very tasty, with good size portions, even off the set menu which was £19.50 for 3 courses, they apparently change the menu daily. We will definately book again and recommend to others.

Having read many good reviews I could not wait to try the Sunday lunch here so I took my family along for a pre theater meal on sunday. Table booked for 17:30 starters arrived if not a little slow, nice but small portions Then the mains took ages when six eventually arrived at the table with the hugest Yorkshire puddings... More

A welcoming front leads to an awkward pause at the door next to some poor couples table, though quickly waved over to a table. Inside was nice enough, but I was sweating by the end of the night! Very warm inside. Disappointingly slow service, a long time waiting just to order drinks and food, an even longer time for starter... More

We have been here a few times now and the food is consistently good. The place is busy so maybe customers might think the staff are being rude, but are in actual fact they are probably rushed off their feet due to the popularity of the place. Today we had the set lunch which was £8.90 for two courses -... More

I have been a few times now and the Townhouse do the best roast I have had at any restaurant. Way better than Brace and Browns- who were awarded 'The Best Roast 2014'. Especially love the huge yorkshire puds, yummy accompaniments and the perfectly cooked meat! yum!

Really good food, I come here about three times each month and I've never had a bad meal! Best roast dinner I've had and the set menu is amazingly good value. I have a lotta love for this little place!
