The Old Bookshop is a small, eclectic cafe/bar that serves good food at a fair price. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The walls are covered in old photographs, typewriters and curiosities. The menu is written on a blackboard, and you order at the bar. Your meal will be served on vintage mismatched china. Don't expect a stuffy restaurant, we are just a quirky little bar that does great food! We recently added a cocktail bar with the most delicious cocktails imaginable.

Quirky bar, unusually great!

Went here as I was passing and was caught by the mural. What a great find - quirky decor and a lovely outdoor beer garden with lots of maritime trinkets to keep me amused. Lovely staff and decent drinks selection. Would come again.

We just visited for a meal. The service is terrible, the food is mediocre and massively over priced for what you receive. I went there so you don't have to...

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your visit. We aim for 100% customer satisfaction so it's really disappointing when customers leave negative reviews. Could you email me at ben@theoldbookshop.co.uk and let me know why you weren't happy? We let out our kitchen to guest chefs and street food vendors who normally stay for a month. During your visit we had Smoking... More

We visited on a Friday night when Burger Theory was the guest pop-up chefs so we expected it to be busy and it was not surprise that it was mobbed! Despite our concerns as to whether we would get a table no probs, a seat and some welcome drinks and time to take in the eclectic surroundings and we had... More

I had a cocktail there and my boyfriend had a beer. The cocktail was ..ok. They only had 'tall' ones and I asked for a martini style one, which they were happy to make. They had to improvise a bit as they were short on some ingredients. The burgers were very good, although on the more expensive side as any... More

Hi. Thanks for leaving your review. I'm glad you liked our bar - we try to make it as welcoming as we can. I'm sorry you found the burgers expensive. We let out our kitchen to guest chefs, pop-ups and street food vendors, and during October we have Burger Theory in our kitchen. They set the price of their menu... More

North Street, Bedminster must be the new up-and-coming area of bistro if The Old Bookshop is anything to go by! It's little treasure trove of bric-a-brac and artifacts with raised indoor areas and a very pleasant and unusual patio/smoking area at the rear (boat ends for seats/old blowtorches and other stuff all over the place. We didn't eat here but... More

Visited the old bookshop with friends during the day and again in the evening. The atmosphere and decor is unique. Love the light fitting made out of trumpets. It was hard to choose just one dish on the pop up menu so we chose 5. Very friendly service and delicious food. Wish it was my local in shirley solihull
