The Old Bookshop is a small, eclectic cafe/bar that serves good food at a fair price. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The walls are covered in old photographs, typewriters and curiosities. The menu is written on a blackboard, and you order at the bar. Your meal will be served on vintage mismatched china. Don't expect a stuffy restaurant, we are just a quirky little bar that does great food! We recently added a cocktail bar with the most delicious cocktails imaginable.

Met up with some friends here, judging from the outside, I wasn't sure what it was going to be like? Good selection of beers! And the food was great!! Desserts were spot on too! Busy, Casual little place with a good atmosphere, would recommend.

Went here on spur of the moment as everywhere else on North street seemed to be full. They have a great range of drinks, and are very friendly. Menu of the day wasnt very comprehensive, just two main courses. Ordered the mussels and the goats cheese for starters. Neither very exciting, the mussels where very average. both plates very small.... More

Thanks for leaving feedback. We appreciate the time and effort it takes to do so. It’s nice to know that you enjoyed our range of drinks and our friendly customer service. Over the past few months, we’ve opened up our kitchen to guest chefs and street-food vendors. Our current guest, Verano Kitchen, is here until the end of August. Their... More

The young lady behind the bar, the waitress and the Chef were so helpful, informative and clearly loving their jobs. My first experience of Moorish food, and I unexpectedly really enjoyed it. Not bring a lover of nuts, seeds etc., avoided dish containing these, but my choice of warm flatbread, creamy hummous, with hake dish as main, truly delicious. Thank... More

One of a few new bars that are now starting to colonise the less trendy end of North Street, it’s divided in to a couple of different rooms, neither of which is particular big and it has quite a quirky ambience with all sorts of bits and pieces scattered around. Décor wise it has black tiling on the floor with... More

My girlfriend and I shared a lovely bottle of Spanish wine one evening. The venue is different and the wine was excellent - we have spent a lot of time in Spain and this stuff was the real deal. Overall, great atmosphere and a nice place for a romantic evening or a casual catch up with friends

So sweet, small.and curious, every room a delight. Genius conversion of a smallish space. Reminiscent of groovy bars and cafes in Berlin. The food was simple but honest, the service great. I'd love to have a place like this.

We came for a Sunday roast, myself chicken and my girlfriend a vegetable parcel, with all the trimmings. Everything was very well cooked and the chicken was so flavoursome!
