The Old Bookshop is a small, eclectic cafe/bar that serves good food at a fair price. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The walls are covered in old photographs, typewriters and curiosities. The menu is written on a blackboard, and you order at the bar. Your meal will be served on vintage mismatched china. Don't expect a stuffy restaurant, we are just a quirky little bar that does great food! We recently added a cocktail bar with the most delicious cocktails imaginable.

Quirky and great

Love the Old Bookshop - have been for just a coffee, a drink and finally got there for dinner a few weekends ago. Cuisine that night was Indonesian - and was very tasty and great value. Ambient tunes from the DJ - not to loud but made for a great atmosphere - and lovely staff and owner who are... read more

Been here for lunch a once before and it was lovely, been back twice since and tried to order the eggs benedict on crumpets but told they weren't doing them that day (although it said on the menu they were). Whilst we were there they decided to stop serving food past 2pm (even though menu says serving until 3) so... More

Brilliant tapas, great atmosphere, good drinks. Brunch is perfect. Evening drinks & tapas are wonderful. Always changing the menu keeps it interesting too. Great stuff.

An excellently eccentric space, the decor is great and the lunch was really nice, we are going back to try the evening menu next. Well worth a try.

We ate here last night with my 87 year old mother in law, husband and 19 year old son. It was very busy when we arrived at 6.30 ish but were lucky to get a table (bookings are only taken for Sunday lunch). Having eaten here previously we knew our evening would be great and we were not disappointed. My... More

Excellently well developed menu, brilliantly designed dishes. I had a perfectly cooked fillet of salmon served with a curried cauliflower puree and spiced lentils, tried some of the home made gnocci which was absolutely spotless as well. Lovely atmosphere, great food worth a visit all day long

Me and my family have been customers at the Bookshop since day one, the food has always been brilliant and a fail-safe choice for a family meal or quick dinner. So we were more than excited when it was announced that the food side of the Bookshop would be changing to a guest chef/pop up style. The new menu has... More

Visited today to meet some friends - there were no tables free and all tables were reserved, so we sat in their lovely norticale garden. Which had blankets and a wood burner so we really didn't feel the cold. After a few hours a table became free so we decided to have lunch. The nut roast, and lamb were lovely... More
