Description: The Old Bookshop is a small, eclectic cafe/bar that serves good food at a fair price. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. The walls are covered in old photographs, typewriters and curiosities. The menu is written on a blackboard, and you order at the bar. Your meal will be served on vintage mismatched china. Don't expect a stuffy restaurant, we are just a quirky little bar that does great food! We recently added a cocktail bar with the most delicious cocktails imaginable.

I reserved half of the venue to hold a surprise birthday party for my boyfriend. I've always enjoyed the food, music and decor but they really pulled out all the stops to ensure we had a great evening. The food in particular was briliant - the buffet was freshly prepared and everything was very tasty (everyone was raving about the... More

We visited The Old Bookshop for Sunday roast yesterday for my husband's birthday. The service was very slow despite the fact it wasn't particularly busy. We had to wait nearly 45 minutes for our food which was only a roast. The waiter and waitress were both drinking wine and in fact the service of our drinks was delayed while the... More

Having tried many Sunday roasts in various bars/pubs over the years I'd come to the conclusion that a home cooked one is always the best. In a way it still is - minus the clearing up after of course. But, The Old Bookshop does a fine job on the roast front... All 6 of us were pretty impressed. The staff... More

We visited the bookshop for my mothers birthday on 14th September. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Service was fab over all! Food was absolutely delicious and we all agreed it was one of the best roast dinners we have ever had. Just a shame we couldn't fit in a pudding! Highly recommended for drinks and food. You won't... Okay so I'm not a regular but have eaten here 6 or 7 times. This time with 3 friends who were new to the dining experience! Fabulous food. All tasty and great portion sizes. We had 9 dishes for 4 of us and paid about £12 each. Excellent value. Will certainly be back.

Leaving review at request of mum/sister as we came yesterday for breakfast and coffee. Mum had meat breakfast, sister had veggie breakfast, I had potatoes bravas (tapas dish). Feedback from mum and sister as follows - mums breakfast okay, nice sausage, loved the toast from marks bakery. Sister - awful breakfast, strange tasting mushrooms, she left majority of plate, I... Hi there littletipple! First of all, I wanted to say that I’m really sorry you weren’t happy with your visit last week. I can see from your previous reviews that you have visited us in the past and really enjoyed the food we’ve served you. If your mum wasn’t happy with her coffee, she should definitely have been given a... More

Been wanting to go to this place for an age, and finally went there last weekend with some friends who were visiting. The decor is quirky and eclectic and kept us entertained for the duration: discovering nooks and crannies and the weird and wonderful. We ordered 2 full English breakfasts and 1 eggs royale and the service was friendly, efficient... More
