The first impression that the place is a bit tatty is confirmed when you go to the loo and the washbasin tap is alarmingly loose and the romantic aura of candles is carried too far when it becomes Stygian gloom and you feel obliged to ask if there are any steps to be encountered. The menus attached to clipboards are... More

On 3 occasions I've been in here for drinks and to try to eat, every time the service has been absolutely appalling, non existent. Having a hospitality background I'm absolutely dumbfounded as to how this place continues. Final straw was my 3rd visit on Saturday when, after a 30 minute queue at the bar some one who knew the staff... More

Had a fantastic Sunday roast last weekend. The service was spot on, attentive without being in your face. We sat out in the sunshine and had roast beef and roast lamb. The waiters wine suggestion was excellent. A little pricey by the glass but a nice drop nonetheless. I had the beef and it was perfectly medium rare and a... More

Visited for the first time last Thursday for the early deal straight from work. We found a seat outside and although we had booked a table inside they were happy for us to sit on the terrace in the sun. The staff were very friendly, the food was lovely and the Thursday prossecco deal made for a very lovely evening.... More

Lunch tapas in the sunshine on the terrace (which is slightly elevated from Whiteladies Rd) are good. Well, they are when the head chef is in... occasionally less experienced cooks are let loose and it shows. Decent glass of Pinot Griggio but not cheap. You do pay a bit of a premium here for position (and next to the BBC... More

The food is great but the staff are patronising and stuck up. The food isn't good enough to put up with having a meal there which is a shame, they let the place down!

We would highly recommend here for the quality of food and fantastic service .. we had booked to eat here last night as part of our hen itinery which had been recommended already .. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the tapas menu and their drinks together with an extensive cocktail list and the mixing and presentation of these was first class also.... More

I have lost count of the number of times we have dined here over the last 8 years or so, it seems to be more an institution than a dining hall, I say dining as it used to be a university cafeteria or refractory is the better term. Hey ho what days they must have been. Well to start with... More

This was our second visit to B&Bs and in fairness only came about because we had forgotten the first one. We arrived without booking at 9.10pm on a Saturday night, were shown to a table, given menus and told we had to order straight away because the kitchen was about to shut. The menu says tapas is available from 6.45pm... More
