Great novel location, good service and food

I took my sister for lunch on a weekday. The sun was shining and we had a great table overlooking the water. We had a glass of white and a fish pie. My sister was really keen on her fish pie (though for me it was more good than great). The key feature of this place is the boat location,... read more

Came to the Grain Barge on Saturday 15th March and had the misfortune to have dealings with a barman with no customer service skills. Ordered a pint of Old Codger ale, this has been one of my favourites over the years so I know how it should look & taste. Unfortunately as soon as I tasted it I could tell... More

My latest of several trips over the last few years lived up to expectations. An A1 waterside location, great beer and food and appalling service. Usually its just incompetent but yesterday it was magnificently rude - not a word, let alone a please or thank you, from the barman as I spent my £3.70 on a pint. .

It is the outlet for the Bristol Beer Factory and their beers are very good! There are other drinks on offer as well, of course, but I come here for the beer, and the atmosphere. In the summer it is very nice to sit outside and soak up the sun.

Beautiful setting overlooking the river. Basic decor inside. Two course lunch for £10, three courses £12. Chose warm chorizo and black pudding salad with a soft poached egg on top as a starter. Mussels with fries and mayonaise to follow. Truly excellent. Draught ales and cider at the bar. Limited accessibility for the old and infirm with steps down to the... More

Sitting on this boat on a sunny day, just didn't want to move! Had a lovely hot drink priced at under £2 and stayed on for a cider on tap and their delicious chunky chips with garlic mayo (highly recommend!) lovely location, very comfortable, perfect for a catch up in pleasing surroundings, can't wait to go back again.

My first visit here was on Valentines day and it was perfect as i'm not an overly romantic person and to my surprise i wasn't surrounded by soppy romantic couples. The boat has a very cosy feeling and allows dogs in the outside seating area which is great for me. The scallops were delicious, but my only criticism is the... More

Some old friend's where in town for the evening, so we brought them here. Food was good, reasonably priced and the service was great. To top it all off there was a fun quiz on a Monday evening!

A great use for an old barge.you need to be sure on your feet to get around this pub as you are literally on a working ship with low bulk heads, steep stairs and a slight tilt to starboard but that's what gives it its charm. Nice selection of real ales and food on offer. You can sit inside or... More
