We are frequent visitors to the Grain Barge as I love Bristol beer factory Milk Stout and the location is fantastic for watching the world go by on the water. The staff always are less than attentive and customers appear to be something they have to put up with. On one occasion I had to wait half an hour for... More

My wife and I booked a table for an evening meal one Saturday recently. As expected the beer was fab but we didn't care for the ambience for the meal being just the 2 of us, better as a group. The food was average in our opinion, my wife's steak was poor and we mentioned this and were told a... More

Visited the Grain Barge on 10th October 2014 with friends from Wales. The ambiance is lovely. Tethered to the side of the dock in Hotwells it is quite unique. You have a choice either to sit inside or on top deck when weather is good. There are views up and down the river and a constant hub of activity. Sea... More

Great atmosphere for a drink at any time. However, we ate there one Saturday and the steak was average at best. I would stick to a sandwich and a drink!

Found this under the "Best of Bristol" website so were expecting something a bit special so surprised to find it was a bit scruffy and basic inside and largely occupied by what looked like students getting a cheap meal. No starters on offer so both went for the mains. My wife had a spinach based tart and I had the... More

Busy atmosphere, lots of people having roast dinner. Popular with groups. Friendly staff. Nice if you can get a seat outside on top of the boat. Great selection of drinks. I don't venture that side of Bristol but nice to explore new area as you get different range of people. Not too touristy and not so many students. Only went... More

We had a very pleasant Sunday lunch here with the family, with a good selection of roast meats and other dishes. We went for lighter starters, which was just as well as the main courses were sizeable. The other plus point is the beer, with a selection from a local micro-brewery, and very tasty. The slight wobbles of the boat... More
