Four of us went here on a Saturday night. It was buzzy and brilliant. Everything was good but we all agreed that the fried dogfish and aioli plus the Pork Belly were real stars. Yum. So glad I live close enough to go regularly.

This is a small and quite relaxed restaurant, with interesting food. We were a party of four, and just asked the waiter to bring their best tapas dishes until we had had enough. Almost all the dishes were good (the octopus/squid was pretty dull) and the wine list, although not extensive, had enough to keep us happy.

Spent a wonderful evening here, eating, drinking and laughing. Firstly the feel of the place is welcoming and warm. It's obviously run by a passionate proprietor – the two staff (owners?) worked immaculately well together, and the experience was seamless. They knew the wines and menu inside out and made the evening a pleasure. The wine was cracking, and matched... More

First off, the wines on offer here are a cut above and there are many you wouldn't expect to find outside of a good wine merchants. Not surprising of course! The selection is well considered, well kept and the mark up is better than most! Had a wonderful aged white Rioja recommended by the waitress and could have had two... More

My husband and I have been talking about going to Flinty Red for almost and year and have not been disappointed. The starters were delicious- we opted for a few tapas dishes (highly recommend the house panisse) and were recommended an excellent white to accompany the dishes. The mains were less impressive but again the wine was excellent. We will... More

When we arrived the manager informed us that he was under staffed and apologised in advance for any issue that might arise from this. Regardless, the manager was exceedingly friendly, the food was fantastic (filling, full of intriguing flavour, not too much), and all reasonably priced. The atmosphere was a little dead but overall a great place for our special... More

Good tapas style food with a mixture of fish, vegetarian and meat dishes. You can choose small plates or large plates. We had a selection of the smaller plates to share. The manager was very knowledgeable on the wine selections particularly on the dessert wines. It was very quiet due to the time of the year, no students around. Manager... More

Went here with a group of friends and had a fantastic meal- the food was excellent, and very interesting compared to most other similar Bristol restaurants. Unusual ingredients expertly handled by the chef. Service was impeccable. Very relaxed, and knowledgable. Able to describe all dishes and confidently advise on drinks and wines. We thought that one main dish was very... More
