We have been learning Spanish in anticipation of our move to Spain later this year & as part of our language learning chores we have ‘Liked’ a Facebook page of Spanish folks handing out advice to other Spanish folks living in Bristol. One of the Facebook posts named the Top 10 affordable but very good places to eat & the... More

Always looking for a good venue to dine out with my good friend and feel terribly let down with this place. The food was over cooked, tasteless and bland. One of the wines we had was actually off which was due to them being so quiet I was told. Anchovy toast served dripping in butter with no taste, deserts similar... More

We visited Bristol for the weekend and booked a table at Flinty Red after reading the reviews in the Good Food Guide. The tables in this cosy restaurant were all booked so we sat on stools at the bar, but were offered the first table that became free. This is a delightful place, full of charm with a nice ambience.... More

First visit to flinty red. Food was lovely although menu was a little to adventurous and limited. Ordered a few of the dishes as a tapas style and they were nice. Desert was the best thing for me the salted caramel mouse, delicious! Service was ok not intrusive but could have been slightly more attentive had to ask for few... More

A delightful little Bistro with an interesting limited(wisely) menu.Absolutely delicious and I loved the idea of a 'small plate' choice.Braised oxcheek starter was like eating savoury silk.Friendly knowledgeable staff.Well done Flinty Red.

I took a friend here for her birthday and we had a really good meal. The staff were very pleasant too and we were very impressed, especially by the pigeon breasts and fennel.

i came here unintentionally with my father, and what a great surprise! the food was so delicious. i'm always worried about going to new places without researching them first as i'm a very fussy veggie, but this was really some of the best food i've eaten out. the deep-fried chickpea cubes and artichoke ravioli were fantastic. it's a bit pricey... Had lunch here today with an old chum. We were looking for somewhere interesting around Clifton and we certainly found it here. Our long, lingering lunch included pied du mouton mushroom, mussels, braised octopus, twice cooked kid, a couple of great desserts and a number of super wines by the carafe. And of course some lovely Armagnacs. Highly recommended!

We had a good evening at flinty red and the food was good. However for 40 pounds per head it was disappointing to leave hungry. There were no carbohydrates served with the mains - we got four large prawns for £15 - and though we ordered another plate of gnocchi to supplement it, it was not great value for the... More
