We had a good evening at flinty red and the food was good. However for 40 pounds per head it was disappointing to leave hungry. There were no carbohydrates served with the mains - we got four large prawns for £15 - and though we ordered another plate of gnocchi to supplement it, it was not great value for the... More

My last visit to Flinty Red, the Cotham Hill branch, had been disappointing, due largely to poor service: see my review below, "An Off Day". So I was very happy to see that on my next visit, to their outpost at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre, that they were right back on song. The service was welcoming, enthusiastic and very... More

We took my parents here, it was a bit of a risk as they're quite conservative but they loved it. The service was excellent and always with a smile & the food was delicious. The premise is slightly different, it can be 'tapas' like or you can have your own meal. We mixed it up, having shared starters and our... More

Visited Flinty Red last night with 2 friends and more than pleasantly surprised. The service from the staff was fun and excellent. Great information given about the food and various wine choices and how they might pair. We elected to eat tapas style so we could try the widest selection. Everything was delicious, especially of note were roasted kid with... More

An unusual and intriguing menu, all superbly cooked. We chose to have several small portions and share them tapas style. The wine was excellent and very good value. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and happy to explain anything that we did not recognise. All in all a great evening.

Have eaten here both as a couple, and with friends. Flinty Red cooks excellent and unusual dishes served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. These are accompanied (as you'd expect given the name) by wines that have evidently been carefully chosen. We enjoyed the house red. The restaurant itself is small and cosy, and (unlike the reviewer below) we found it... More

A small restaurant with a wide range of food - as small or large a helping as you like. The wine list is also an attraction with staff available who known what they are talking about.

Been here before and really enjoyed it. But it missed out in every sense on my last visit. Wine had to be sent back, and replacement only OK. Much less choice of plates than usual and those that we had (salt cod, octopus etc) were not up to much. And the service was terrible - waited ages for main course... More

Had great reviews so visited with high hopes. Food was undoubtedly interesting and good but restaurant has absolutely no atmosphere. They are in serious need of an interior makeover. Not a place for a romantic dinner out.

Menu consists of small plates that you can mix and match. Always interesting. The big draw though is the wine list, which is excellent.
