Enjoyable meal

Had an afternoon tea at Berwick Lodge in January and it was lovely. Filled in one of their prize draw cards and popped it in the bowl and was fortunate enough to be a winner of a 3 course meal. My husband and I enjoyed a pre-valentines meal with little extra's such as amuse bouche and pre-dessert... read more

We were a group of four friends taking afternoon tea. We were placed in the lounge in front of a welcoming log fire as requested. The service was attentive but not overbearing, and we were delighted with the selection of delicacies presented for our afternoon tea. The finger sandwiches were fresh and the scones were straight from the oven and... More

Went here for a birthday meal and was not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and interesting. The best pork cheeks I've ever tasted. Wonderful melt in the mouth lamb, tasty ham hock, summer vegetables & quail eggs, and a scrumptious lemon dessert. The wine was delicious, recommended by a waiter. The waiters and waitresses were very friendly and professional.... More

We went for lunch on mothers day and was very happy. It is a lovely place and lunch was delicious. It wasn't over crowded and the atmosphere was lovely. My mum had a lovely time and that was what mattered. We did notice a lot of people saying how small the portions which was something we definitely did not agree... More

This was our second visit to Hattusa at Berwick Lodge. The Christmas Lunch did not disappoint. The food and service were exceptional and the individual courses (eight in total) were innovative and presented beautifully.

This is our second stay at Berwick lodge and our second amazing meal at Hattusa and we will undoubtedly be returning again. After reading the other reviews for this restaurant we felt compelled to write a review as feel the comments are completely unfair and do not do the staff or the outstanding head chef justice. The building is stunning,our... More

Thanks for your feedback FerretBarger. Delighted you won the prize and enjoyed your meal! We are addressing the temperature issue in the restaurant during these very cold months. Hope to see you again. Sarah More

Not the easiest place to find, it’s down a dark and bumpy single lane road so I don’t imagine they get too much in the way of passing trade. But then, it’s not that sort of place. If driving there is too much hassle, there is a helipad in the garden. Even when you’ve actually arrived much of it is... More

Thanks for your review Blackth0rn. We have made some small changes to the layout of the restaurant to encourage warmth in these very cold months. The fire unfortunately is just aesthetic in the restaurant at the moment. I'm glad you had a good experience overall and thank you for your feedback. Sarah. More

After a very friendly greeting went into the lounge for a pre dinner drink. The building is old and atmospheric, but despite the open fires it was also cold, particularly in the restaurant. We both chose from the a la carte menu, and the food was ok, particularly the halibut which was excellent. Portions are not huge but adequate, but... More

Thanks for your comments Jan Bristol. We've moved some furniture in the restaurant since your review, to try and keep out some of the cold and encourage more warmth from the radiators. It's tricky to keep an old house like this warm at this particularly cold time of year but we're trying! I feel our wine list does offer affordable... More

We came for afternoon tea with 4 under 8's and were warmly welcomed and looked after by very attentive and friendly staff. Scones were delicious and cakes were also good. Sandwiches nice (perhaps could be slightly more inspired in fillings) but overall a lovely relaxing and elegant experience. I recommend!!

Slightly off the beaten track but well worth a try. Set in a beautiful location you are made to feel very welcome. The food is cleverly put together with different flavours and texture that beautifully compliment each other. The portions are not small for the caliber of restaurant. I had 3 courses from the a'la carte menu and went home... More
