On the corner of St Lukes Road sits The Star and Dove – a smart, welcoming pub and a favourite among Bristol’s young and trendy locals. Downstairs, there are two separate bar areas where you can lounge around on comfy sofas; while upstairs in the restaurant, the parquet floors, royal blue walls and huge windows create a bright and airy space. There are separate menus too, with the bar menu offering classic pub grub and the restaurant menu serving up top-class European cuisine. As if that wasn’t enough, the kitchen produces a seasonal tasting menu on the first Thursday of every month. There’s a great outside space, a concise wine list and a good selection of draught lagers – what more could you ask for?

Had my wife's birthday party at the Star & Dove on Saturday evening, which was excellent. Great room, decent PA system to plug our ipad into, and the people working there couldn't have been more helpful. Would recommend for sure. Thanks guys!

Have enjoyed many great meals at this pub over the years and their Sunday Lunches are great. However, tonight my wife and I tried their new venue upstairs - The "Historical Dining Rooms". OMG - what a fantastic experience. They have really done it so well, you do feel like you have been transported back in history and the food... More

We booked because we were looking for a dog-friendly place not too far from Temple Meads. It proved to be a real find. Very spacious dining room, with nice relaxed atmosphere and lots of room for our party of six (plus dog). Something for everyone on the menu - I feared it was going to be nouvelle cuisine because of... More

we had some small snacks and really enjoyed. The scotch egg was fresh and wonderful. Its an interesting place that accommodates locals and visitors alike. We didn't stay long but can recommend and suggest a visit for a nice pint and good food.

We dropped into the Star and Dove on a Sunday and luck was with us as a cancellation meant we got a table in their restaurant. I had the beef whilst my wife had organic pork. This was the best roast we've had for years and lovely friendly service too. I also tried the triple chocolate dessert - which was... More

Really good beer, followed by a very interesting and unusual meal. The menu is based around mainly Victorian recipes. It tastes far better than you might imagine!
