On the corner of St Lukes Road sits The Star and Dove – a smart, welcoming pub and a favourite among Bristol’s young and trendy locals. Downstairs, there are two separate bar areas where you can lounge around on comfy sofas; while upstairs in the restaurant, the parquet floors, royal blue walls and huge windows create a bright and airy space. There are separate menus too, with the bar menu offering classic pub grub and the restaurant menu serving up top-class European cuisine. As if that wasn’t enough, the kitchen produces a seasonal tasting menu on the first Thursday of every month. There’s a great outside space, a concise wine list and a good selection of draught lagers – what more could you ask for?

Great Food & Service

Great food and excellent service. I had been planning to go to the Star & Dove for some time, however when I read some of the Trip Advisor reports about the service I thought twice. I am glad I decided to ignore these reports and eat there. The service was warm, welcoming, friendly and attentive... read more

A nice selection of olde English food which tasted very nice. My friends went for bone marrow which they loved while I played it safe and went for a lentil dish (if I remember correctly) and a pork pie. Was great. Waiter was very welcoming. Also stopped by with my mate drew who was steaming after a few bevvies at... More

Went here with my girlfriend and brother Saturday evening having recently moved to the area. This will most certainly become my local - the bar is lovely and old fashioned with a great selection of beers, wines & cocktails - I was really pleased the staff know their selection inside-out; this place has owners that are obviously passionate. We ate... More

I visited the Star and Dove today - for the third time - with my girlfriend. We had drinks and bar snacks (sausage rolls and scotch eggs) while we waited for our table. the staff were very friendly, attentive and polite. We got our table and was given water and a menu. We waited no time at all for our... More

We have been to the star and dove quite a few times, it is our daughters local. Today we had the (very) slow cooked pork shoulder. Apparently fourteen hours. It was the best pork we have ever tasted. It really fell apart and the flavour was fantastic. Can't wait to go back.

I was part of a group of 15 with young children (4 of) and cannot praise Star and Dove enough. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. It was my mothers birthday and there were relatives over from Ireland so keeping the kids entertained was a challenge, but it was fine as we brought colouring in books and crayons. The food... More

Perfect winter pub, roaring fires, decent ales, good food (I'm a veggie and lactose free and they always accomodate) and charming and knowledgeable staff. I'm told they're opening the upstairs as a fine-dining place, looking forward to that, it's about time Totterdown had a bit of class. Me and the wife agree, it's our favourite pub in Bristol. Maybe after... More

Held my 40th birthday party in the music room of the pub on Saturday evening and have to say the whole experience was spot on from planning through to the night itself. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful - they were more than happy to tweak their buffet menu to meet my budget and preferences and the... More

Our third visit to this surprising pub/eatery in a back street in Bristol. Looks so ordinary, but the food is superb, and I gather the beers are interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed their Christmas lunch - food based on ideas from the time of James I of England. This time we were there for a lighter lunch though. So some 'small'... More
