On the corner of St Lukes Road sits The Star and Dove – a smart, welcoming pub and a favourite among Bristol’s young and trendy locals. Downstairs, there are two separate bar areas where you can lounge around on comfy sofas; while upstairs in the restaurant, the parquet floors, royal blue walls and huge windows create a bright and airy space. There are separate menus too, with the bar menu offering classic pub grub and the restaurant menu serving up top-class European cuisine. As if that wasn’t enough, the kitchen produces a seasonal tasting menu on the first Thursday of every month. There’s a great outside space, a concise wine list and a good selection of draught lagers – what more could you ask for?

we had some small snacks and really enjoyed. The scotch egg was fresh and wonderful. Its an interesting place that accommodates locals and visitors alike. We didn't stay long but can recommend and suggest a visit for a nice pint and good food.

We dropped into the Star and Dove on a Sunday and luck was with us as a cancellation meant we got a table in their restaurant. I had the beef whilst my wife had organic pork. This was the best roast we've had for years and lovely friendly service too. I also tried the triple chocolate dessert - which was... More

Really good beer, followed by a very interesting and unusual meal. The menu is based around mainly Victorian recipes. It tastes far better than you might imagine!

We ate Sunday lunch here as a party of 6 to celebrate my son's birthday. The food and service were excellent and the prices quite reasonable. Although the menu is a bit pretentious in how the food is described, it is really just good old-fashioned English pub grub, with a few twists. Between us we had the full range -... More

I'm a great believer that you get what you pay for. While the breakfast may be a pound or two more expensive than its lesser rivals it is incredibly good value. I went for the full English and have not experienced bacon or sausages like this before. My friend had the salmon hash browns and was equally impressed. Perfect way... More

Fantastic original menu with exceptionally well thought out special events. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Inspiring wine list with insightful information from the staff. Highly recommended if you're looking for something a little bit different. Well priced, don't miss the scotch eggs and sausage rolls in the bar area.

This has always been a favourite of mine. The menu is simple and uncomplicated and the food is very good. There's always a good choice of beers but I haven't tried the wine list yet. There's a cute little beer garden out the back, which is mostly shaded although one of the tables really catches the sun. The service is... More

We went to the star and dove for Sunday lunch on recommendation from a friend. It's been our local for the past 6 months however we had not really visited previously. Their Sunday lunch menu was awesome. I had the pork with roast potatoes and mixed veg, and a side of kale and cheesy greens. Everything was cooked well and... More

One of our son's favourite pub/restaurants in Bristol, it's just become ours too - we shall want to go whenever we visit. Fabulous choices on a Tuesday lunchtime, especially for the non-meat eaters. The set lunch was particularly good value at £10 for 2 courses (+ dessert for an extra £3). We were impressed by the range of beers on... More
