On the corner of St Lukes Road sits The Star and Dove – a smart, welcoming pub and a favourite among Bristol’s young and trendy locals. Downstairs, there are two separate bar areas where you can lounge around on comfy sofas; while upstairs in the restaurant, the parquet floors, royal blue walls and huge windows create a bright and airy space. There are separate menus too, with the bar menu offering classic pub grub and the restaurant menu serving up top-class European cuisine. As if that wasn’t enough, the kitchen produces a seasonal tasting menu on the first Thursday of every month. There’s a great outside space, a concise wine list and a good selection of draught lagers – what more could you ask for?

Gorgeous pub grub for £10!

I was recommended this pub, so looked it up on Trip Advisor to double check. It lived up to expectation. It's not in a great area, but inside it's a beautiful old pub with that traditional pub vibe I was looking for. 15" walk from the Station but excellent 'old' pub with log fires, real beer and good wine. Staff very friendly and has open mike nights. Food is much more special then you would expect looking from the outside and if you order before 6.30, amazing value. Gents toilets nothing special - what you would expect. Am told Ladies is similar.... More

Found myself in the Star and Dove at lunchtime with a couple of friendly builders working on a house renovation around the corner in Montgomery Street. Went for the set menu – two dishes for very reasonable £10 – off the new 2016 menu. My starter was lamb hash. Didn’t sound promising – but is turned out to be fantastic.... More

What a charming pub - visited here at the recommendation of a fried for the open mic night. An excellent calibre of musician and a lovely pub to complement. Intimate atmosphere and warm vibe. Would recommend.

We booked for a family meal just before Christmas. It was not cheap (£210 for 7) but I was expecting the food to live up to the hype. The pub has a pleasant atmosphere with a real fire and comfortable lived in furniture. The service is a little to obsequious. The table looked nice. Our starter was a measly, tepid... More

We were here on a weekend night for a Christmas dinner with friends. The atmosphere was lively, with good food and wine (although some of the desserts were disappointing). Would go again.

Very pleasant pre-Christmas meal - everything really tasty, staff welcoming, good wine and beer - just a lovely place to eat. Highly recommended. Portions so generous that we even ended up with a doggy bag.

Visited for a birthday celebration. Service was as good as you will get anywhere. Staff were able to advise on all aspects of the food and drink available, and had the knack of appearing at the right time to check on drinks, or clearing away, without being in your face the whole time. Was a little concerned that not all... More

Loved the setting of this pub - it was inviting and comfortable. It was well furnished in an old style fashion but all clean and well done. We went here for a family Sunday lunch. There were lots of mixed reviews in our party. You could not fault the quality of produce everything seemed fresh and the meat was tender.... More
