Description: On the corner of St Lukes Road sits The Star and Dove – a smart, welcoming pub and a favourite among Bristol’s young and trendy locals. Downstairs, there are two separate bar areas where you can lounge around on comfy sofas; while upstairs in the restaurant, the parquet floors, royal blue walls and huge windows create a bright and airy space. There are separate menus too, with the bar menu offering classic pub grub and the restaurant menu serving up top-class European cuisine. As if that wasn’t enough, the kitchen produces a seasonal tasting menu on the first Thursday of every month. There’s a great outside space, a concise wine list and a good selection of draught lagers – what more could you ask for?

Held my 40th birthday party in the music room of the pub on Saturday evening and have to say the whole experience was spot on from planning through to the night itself. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful - they were more than happy to tweak their buffet menu to meet my budget and preferences and the... More

Our third visit to this surprising pub/eatery in a back street in Bristol. Looks so ordinary, but the food is superb, and I gather the beers are interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed their Christmas lunch - food based on ideas from the time of James I of England. This time we were there for a lighter lunch though. So some 'small'... More

We found it on line and the reviews, apart from the most recent, looked good. We got there on a wet Saturday after battling with the traffic in Bristol. On arrival, it looked as if the most recent reviews were right. The place was cold, everyone was still wearing their coats and we were not sure this was the place... More

I booked this place as I have been a local since it opened I was told a week in advance no under 18s so had loads cancellations. They refunded my 100 deposit but took 70 for the sparse gross buffet it was awful. The guests all complained so I emailed them and was asked not to come back all I... More

i was utterly disappointed with my experience at the star in dove which resulted in myself and my boyfriend being banned. The staff were very aggressive to us and it is clear they do not value their customers. I would not recommend this pub which I think is a great shame as it has the ability to be great for... More

We have been several times to the Star and Dove for dinner in the restaurant. We absolutely love the feel of the place, kinda quirky shabby, and the food has been fantastic every time. Totally different, unique dishes cleverly prepared and tasting brilliant. Once had one little problem with the loop on the music! about 3 times too many! This... More

This place is our local. Great staff, great variety of booze. Atmosphere is friendly enough that we can shout competitively whilst playing cards, dogs are welcome and regulars are friendly. Amazing wine selection, would be nice to see wiper and true back or the bristol beer factory stuff. Would love to eat here at some point! X

I found this pub on the internet. We were spending the day in Bristol - Christmas shopping - and I wanted somewhere for my wife and I to have an interesting lunch. This delivered. Lovely warm and cosy pub a little walk from the centre, with a roaring fire, and quirky furniture. Lots of people sitting around in armchairs in... More

Went here for my Grandma's 80th birthday in a large party of 14. We were really looking forward to it as the reviews seemed really good. Our table was booked for 1.30 but we couldn't sit down until 2 as the table wasn't ready, and when we did sit down they hadn't laid enough places. We waited a long time... More

We had booked for the restaurant only to be seated in an extremely noisy bar area music blaring! Starters fine - mains arrived with a huge wait for sides - all in all felt extremely expensive for what was essentially a pub meal.
