Funny thing about hotel restaurants. So many seem as if they don't belong to the city they're in, well, City Cafe in Bristol is different. The modern, chic design makes for a most welcoming dining room with ambient lights that change colours and add to the sense of occasion. The location is right on Temple Quay with a very popular terrace outside for basking afternoons. Head chef Peter Quinion brings top-end experience to City Cafe, and has created several menus, with terrific veggie options, to tempt and delight you. Try starter of open lasagne of pigeon and wild mushrooms with Madeira butter sauce, main course of Monkfish roasted with lemon grass and citrus with mediterranean salsa and smoked paprika aioli, and pudding of orange and pink grapefruit creme brulee. The international wine list is a very good match for the inventive cooking.

Good strong coffee

Went recently (Wednesday) to meet for an interview, had coffee there, only drink really strong black coffee, and have to admit this was pretty good - good enough for me to have another Place had a good atmosphere, I arrived early, moved to an area with sofas and a table and noted that others... read more

Now part if the Hilton group. The restaurant was top class, service excellent, food reasonably priced. We booked as part of an accommodation package with Breakfast and Dinner included. Would definitely eat here again.

This was my first meal at the City Cafe, at the Hilton Garden Inn Bristol (it used to be the Mint Hotel). I had decided to opt for a dinner-inclusive rate at the hotel, as it best served my needs. I was warmly greeted by two members of staff & shown to my table. I was presented with a menu... More

Food ok but absolutely no atmosphere. Pricey and a tad ostentatious. The hotel itself if very nice; don't book a room at the front as the traffic noise is relentless!

I am sat in the restaurant feeling compelled to write this review. The atmosphere is very pleasant, staff are first class attentive and caring. I chose from the set menu, the mackerel pate starter was a joy, the chef mentioned that it was a new menu and asked me what I thought. Well it was great, I cleared my plate.... More

The restaurant is modern and has a comfortable area outside with tables, heating and cover. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Our room rate included a 2 course meal from a set menu. As you would expect can have starter and main or main and sweet. Good selection to choose from, but perhaps repetitive after a couple of nights. Food... More

This is now part of the Hilton Garden Inn hotel. I ate lunch her with a colleague simply due to its location/convenience - I had low expectations as it was part of the hotel, and was pleasantly surprised. My salad was fresh and tasty, and the french fries were really good too. Service was friendly and attentive. There are more... More

We had a very enjoyable meal at the City Café on 3lst May. The food and the service was perfect. Would certainly recommend this restaurant, which is conveniently placed for the City Centre, and we will visit again.
