Food excellent,chairs awful

Warm welcome, moved tables as sun streaming in at front. Not a problem for me but friends were huffing and puffing! Starters wild mushrooms and poached egg on Er um toast. Very nice. Main course, 4 different pieces of fish on Er um toast. My choice my error. Friend had duck leg and pronounced it... read more

Been here now twice and on both occasions left very satisfied with the quality of the food served. The restaurant decor I would explain as bistro style and the staff are welcoming. Our fist visit was for my wife's birthday and I booked ahead and on arrival we were at on a nice table in the window and they had... More

We tried the Brasserie for Lunch and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. We were seated towards the front and the sun was streaming in. I chose the soup of the day which was Stilton and Broccoli with chunky bread and my husband had the Seafood Ciabatta. Both meals were delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed... More

Not knowing the area, we booked for ourselves and our son and partner for an evening meal. We had a good welcome, and were not hurried for our order. The food was excellent and extremely tasty at a very reasonable price. The pork belly was very tender, the twice cooked steak was delicious and the chicken supreme was just that... More

We have been here for a weekend breakfast about 10 times in the past 5 years and the slide downhill has finally made us decide that this visit was the last one. The brasserie is in a lovely old building and it's a very pleasant place to be. Whoever fitted it out in the first place made sure all the... More

I was fortunate enough to visit the tea rooms with my mother and sister in law on a cold and miserable Sunday afternoon and it was just what I needed to cheer me up. The welcome was friendly and the table was set with beautiful crockery. Our waitress was efficient and ensured we didn't have a long wait very for... More

The food is always excellent but unless it's high summer, it is always a little chilly. They must do something to make it warmer.

Called in just for coffee but then chose a starter to go with it which was a well-presented poached egg with bacon on toast. Just what we needed prior to a pleasant country walk. Excellent service from an attentive waiter, even though we were only there for a quick snack. Will certainly make a point of returning for dinner from... More

Had a 3 course meal. The food was very good, portions were a little small and I was left hungry after 3 courses. It was expensive but the value was there as the taste and presentation of the food was great. Service was fine though we were a bit in the corner and so it took us a while to... More

This is now my second time eating at this restaurant, both at lunch. The menu is very good, the food impeccable and the service superb. We will be going back with friends to enjoy an evening.
