The Black Horse in the centre of Woburn is a quintessential English village pub with a truly fantastic restaurant tucked away inside. Make your way through the picturesque 18th century faade and cosy bar, and youll discover a rather chic dining room serving up delicious English dishes. With its exposed beams, friendly service and stellar best of British menu, this is the kind of place that invites you to kick back with a bottle of wine and while away a lazy afternoon. A little gem, The Black Horse even has a hidden courtyard which is splendidly sunny during the summer months. The Head Chef Trevor Blake has put together an accomplished menu featuring free range chicken and eggs, artisan cheeses, native fish and British cuts of lamb and beef. The menu at The Black Horse is exhaustive, and the brilliant food is accompanied by an exciting selection of wines and real ales.

We didn't book - took a chance on finding somewhere in Woburn for a group of four. The place was bustling, lovely atmosphere and ambience. Despite the busyness we were shown to a table and served drinks straight away by a very attentive but relaxed young man. The tables were a little close together for my liking but it didn't... More

This was a return visit as last time I was raving about the Rib Eye steak. Sadly it wasn't as good this time round. Still the wonderful flavour and perfectly cooked - but it was over seasoned and quite salty. However having eaten half of it the waitress appeared to ask how our meals were and when I told her... Cutting to the chase here. 4 real ales on tap (a little on the boring side but perfectly decent), very friendly bar staff and decent food. We all had burgers which although on the pricey side, were nicely cooked. Would certainly return were I in the area.

Excellent burger served with chunky chips and a couple of onion rings. Not your average burger. I would go back to try another burger from their Monday night choices. Their 'smidgen of cheese' instead of dessert was just the right sized portion to taste, and served with celery sticks.

Food choice isn't too bad and normally well cooked. More of a drinking spot than a good venue for me though.

Do the people of Woburn know how lucky they are to have so many great eateries in their little town? I don't think we have been to the Black Horse before so we were pleased to read they source their produce locally and decided to try it. We were not disappointed. My brother had the pigs cheeks to start and... More

We have had many evening meals at the Black Horse and have never been disappointed. Even though they are usually very busy, the service is always good and the staff are friendly & helpful. There is an excellent menu that varies frequently and the food is more restaurant quality than pub fare.
