The Beech Tree Inn is a family restaurant and bar situated just north of Glasgow. We serve good bar food at value for money prices. In addition, we have a good range of light meals and snacks. We also stock a wide range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. We have a great beer garden with a children's play area, pygmy goats, mini Shetland ponies, ducks, rabbits, & zebra finches for the kids to enjoy looking at.

The best way to start the West Highland Way

Roughly midway between Milngavie and Drymen, just beside Glengoyne Distillery, this nice inn is the ideal place to have lunch while hiking on the West Highland Way. It is not compulsory to get there on foot, though: lazier people can easily reach it by car. Patrons may sit either inside or... read more

We ended up here by chance a couple of weeks ago as the first place we were going to go was closed...and I'm so glad it was! The surroundings of The Beech Tree Inn are just beautiful. There are miniature ponies, pygmy goats and chickens to name a few. I was in love with the place before I even stepped... More

Visited the beech tree on Sunday the 31st of January. Have to say from the beginning it was a lovely place. Sadly the weather was poor but on a lovely summers day a great place for kids and adults alike. Both of us really enjoyed the meal and the venue fully and cannot believe we hadn't stopped in before now.... More

Have eaten here many times and the combination of good food generous helpings and a warm welcome all make it very pleasant. Obviously popular with walkers on the West Highland Way and passing trade there is a nice conservatory and garden with a small animal enclosure. The big smile and warmth off the welcome contributes to the homely atmosphere. Each... More

50+ ramblers descended on the Inn one Sunday evening (heads up given to the manager) we had an hour for a bite to eat and a drink. The food service was excellent, staff organised and yummy bar food serviced in a timely manner. Not a bad word from our 50+ membership only positive 'well done' comments. We would definitely drop... Visited on a wet wed day, place was quiet as its off season, the greeting from the staff was brilliant, very friendly and welcoming. We sat in the conservatory and decided on starters of Prawns and of Scallops, we got sides of fries and cheesey garlic breaf and deserts of bannoffee pie and chocolate cake, all were tasty and the... Stopped here on day #1 of the West Highland Way, after the Glengoyne Distillery tour, based on reviews read online and recommendations in travel guides. The staff were neither welcoming or friendly and the food average at best (and absolutely overpriced). Tip: Grab a sandwich in Milngavie to enjoy on the picnic tables rather than dine in here.
