we went to The Plough last night for a family dinner. On entering I was pleasantly surprised, it has a rustic charm but felt modern and spacious. We were shown to our table, given menus to peruse. We waited for 15 minutes, then were asked if we would like drinks, we ordered and added a bottle of water for the... More

Firstly the positives...the Plough is very nicely decorated inside, there are plenty of tables, the staff are very friendly and the quality of the food was good, however there are some "buts". Firstly the table had not been wiped properly after its previous occupants and the cutlery was not very clean...I swapped items with a nearby table. We ordered two... More

Myself, Husband & friend visited the Plough today & enjoyed a very pleasant lunch. The newly decorated restaurant with a roaring fire was excellent, while the food, two Sunday Roasts, one roast chicken was very good indeed. After indulging in the very tasty desserts & coffee, served by pleasant friendly staff , we decided that it had been a most... More

Visited with family and dog, dogs welcome in bar. Good simple menu, specials on board. Beer excellent and good wine range too. Fish and chips very good, salmon excellent and chicken very tasty. Service and staff were excellent, place busy but very welcoming. Large restaurant too if you want more formality. Will visit again.

Our recent bar meal was one of the worst eating experiences we've had in a while. Within our party of four we chose the burger and fish & chips. This was really awful food - straight from the freezer cabinet . First the burger ( I love nothing more than a freshly made ground beef burger- it can be a... More

For those who do not know the reastaurant is situated on the A65 about two miles from junction 36 of the M6 and has a large car park. We have visited several times and my partner always recommended the restaurant to friends and family, hence our recent visit to show their new restaurant to our family. The starters were very nice,however... More

Recently decorated I was a bit disappointed in the new look, no statement, no features just a bit drab. A chilly saturday afternoon and the open fireplace was bare not a flame in sight. The food on the other hand was really good and piping hot and the staff were attentive and helpfull. I believe it has recently changes ownership... More
