Welcoming

It was a cold Friday afternoon, the fire was roaring and we were made to feel very welcome. We didn't eat this time but will definitely go back to try the food. Have told all our friends to pay a visit!

Bob Dearman and self visited the Royal Oak this evening arriving at9/45 pm to darts and dominoes, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality Bob being recognised as a past member of the erea, although I was driving I had a bottle of Peroni and a couple of Beks Blue, needles to say stone cold sober Bob on the other... I've visited here a few times. The landlord and staff are friendly with a warm welcome. Traditional country pub with a real fire. We had Sunday lunch here 25/01/2015. Luckily I had the last one about 4pm but they serve food till evening. It was a fab roast beef dinner. Gorgeous thick gravy. Good prices and would defiantly visit again.

Good beer, service and food after a long walk we kicked off out boots and sat by the fire and toasted in more ways than one.

The landlord was lovely and made you feel at home instantly, the food was good and very quick. The pub looked like a lovely querky country pub and was lovely and warm sitting by the open fire

We went on a drive around the peak district and a friend had recommended this pub to us. This pub had every thing you would want from a country pub: warm welcome, tasty beer, hearty food and a crackling fire place. It is super cute and cosy. Kids are welcome and there is a little extra section with kids meals... More

Following an arduous walk of 10 miles, we fell into this lovely pub for a drink, the food was so tempting we had to stay for a meal. PROPER chips, I am campaigning for them, they were lovely. We had a venison burger, a stacked burger with steak on it and a stilton risotto, all fantastic.

We were staying in a very nearby cottage, this pub was recommended to us and what a lovely place. My family and I were retuning back from snowballing, it was our last night in the Peak District and made the most of the convenience. What a lovely landlord, he had just retuned from visiting family for Christmas, but nothing was... More

We'd been for a walk around the local caves and found the Royal Oak at just the right time. The landlord gave us a lovely welcome, told us about the local ales (Hartingtons) and gave us a menu to choose from, we both went for the sausages which were on special. The food arrived in good time, was well cooked... More
