We loved Costos' caferion. Costos will cook you anything you would like and will show you the amazing church wonderful frescoes from the 14th century next door with to his Caferion. He is a wonderful host and we found the Caferion very relaxing and lots of fun with our two kids.

Our second visit to Maza. What a welcome we got. Kostas and Voula remembered us from last year and made a tremendous fuss of us. The food is as good as ever, highlights being Voula's moussaka and pork chops from the grill. Ask Kostas in advance to get some fish. This really is an experience. The road up to the... More

We have become regular holidaymakers to Crete and Costi's taverna is one of the big reasons we will continue to return. Costi and Voula provide the perfect harmony of excellent company and excellent food, wonderful traditional Greek food prepared expertly by Voula or barbequed by Costi himself. It is great fun to just arrive and see what glorious food is... More

Kostas and Voula's caferion's hospitality and rustic food was wonderful as always. We have spent every other evening of our 21 day holiday eating with Kostas and his family. Their welcome is second to none, their food is authentic rustic greek cuisine. Many local people also chose to eat with Kostas which shows just how good his company, food, wine... More

Kostas and Voula certainly know how to entertain. The food, especially the beef stifado, is spectacular but it's best to go or phone in advance if you want something particular as there is no menu. If you just turn up, though, you won't be disappointed. Huge pork chops on the bbq, pastitsio, lamb, chicken, fish (if ordered in advance),lots of... More

Kostas has the culinary ideas and Voula conjurs them into life in their bougainvillea- clad taverna in the tiny hamlet of Maza (population 90) in the White Mountains of Crete. It's 30 years since my first Greek island holiday on the then back-to-basics Santorini where in the early 80s menu-less tavernas abounded untouched by the EU bureaucrats. You just popped... More

If you want authentic Greek food, then this restaurant is a must. Kostas and Voula are perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The lack of a menu might not suit everyone, but for us, it adds to the charm. The food is well cooked and keeps coming. Very generous helpings. You just can't go wrong with what is... More
