I booked a table on the outside Terrace overlooking the river and that is exactly what we received. On a hot airless evening (33C) it was a good move and the views were delightful. The Reception and farewell from the owner were excellent and really...made you feel you were welcome in her restaurant where her husband is the chef. Service by the young waitress was very attentive with a smile. A bottle of local Muscadet accompanied by a large bottle of sparkling San Pellegrino (necessary on such a hot evening) was very welcome and we ordered from the interesting and different menu. A lovely Amuse Bouche started the meal off and for entrees my wife ordered Burrata with herbs, tomato, parmesan crisps with pea and green tomato coulis, whilst I went for the combination of crab and prawns with a Thai sauce. Both were very well executed with a range of tastes. For mains, we went for the Sea Bream and the Sea Bass. The Sea Bass came with a seafood sauce whilst the Bream had a curry base with coconut milk. We both sampled all the various tastes and the food was indeed individual to the chef. My wife found the tastes a little rich whilst I enjoyed all of them. We finished with a selection of 3 cheeses accompanied by rustic bread and after an enjoyable two hours we returned to our hotel which was just around the corner. As an overall package sat on the terrace with well prepared food, we both agreed we had made a good choice and Restaurant de la Vallee offered an excellent overall package. A particular gem is the small office where you pay your bill, it harks back to a bygone age and appears to be one of the original features from the restaurant that has been retained - wonderful.More
