Like a burst of sunshine on a rainy day, we chanced upon this restaurant and were so pleased to have found it. I can speak French but my deafness makes conversation difficult. The owner, who spoke English well, made a special effort to come out...especially to attend to us, making us feel comfortably at ease and thus able to enjoy a truly delicious lunch. We want to say that we appreciated very much the consideration we were shown on what by chance happened to be my 87th birthday.More

I booked a table on the outside Terrace overlooking the river and that is exactly what we received. On a hot airless evening (33C) it was a good move and the views were delightful. The Reception and farewell from the owner were excellent and really...made you feel you were welcome in her restaurant where her husband is the chef. Service by the young waitress was very attentive with a smile. A bottle of local Muscadet accompanied by a large bottle of sparkling San Pellegrino (necessary on such a hot evening) was very welcome and we ordered from the interesting and different menu. A lovely Amuse Bouche started the meal off and for entrees my wife ordered Burrata with herbs, tomato, parmesan crisps with pea and green tomato coulis, whilst I went for the combination of crab and prawns with a Thai sauce. Both were very well executed with a range of tastes. For mains, we went for the Sea Bream and the Sea Bass. The Sea Bass came with a seafood sauce whilst the Bream had a curry base with coconut milk. We both sampled all the various tastes and the food was indeed individual to the chef. My wife found the tastes a little rich whilst I enjoyed all of them. We finished with a selection of 3 cheeses accompanied by rustic bread and after an enjoyable two hours we returned to our hotel which was just around the corner. As an overall package sat on the terrace with well prepared food, we both agreed we had made a good choice and Restaurant de la Vallee offered an excellent overall package. A particular gem is the small office where you pay your bill, it harks back to a bygone age and appears to be one of the original features from the restaurant that has been retained - wonderful.More

It’s a shame we were so looking forward to a beautiful lunch overlooking the water at @restaurantdelavallee and we arrived to find the poorest treatment I’ve experienced since moving to France (and the French aren’t known for their hospitality!) We drove 2 hours to have...lunch here and when they turned us away they didn’t allow us to sit in their venue for even five minutes to try and find another solution. I was planning to share my experience on social media to my audience but I will certainly be sharing this one instead. We were refused a table and not allowed to sit in the waiting area which was for “clients only”. Don’t bother going here if you are in Clisson.More

Visited Clisson and chose this restaurant for lunch as the menu looked interesting. So very glad that we did. Had the 3 course set menu which had plenty to choose from. The food was amazing, delicious and beautifully presented. We talked about it all the...way home. The chef can really cook. Service from all the staff was impeccable. Service with many smiles. Lovely buzz in the restaurant too - all the other diners seemed as happy as us. We can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. We will definitely go back.More

They were only doing their 32 euro menu on the saturday evening. This was not a problem as there was a good variety of choice. The restaurant is atmospheric and the service first class. The food itself was excellent with little twists from the chef. Agreat...experience.More

A perfect dinner to celebrate our 30th anniversary trip Loire Valley! The town of Clisson is charming and the location of Restaurant de la Vallee gives you the opportunity to enjoy spectacular views of the river, town and fortress. The lovely hostess treated us like...royalty, and her husband, the chef, worked magic with beautifully crafted dishes - unique and delicious in every way. The staff were attentive and helpful, especially in helping us pair local wines with our courses. The meal was an excellent price point as well, given the quality and quantity of each course. A magical evening we will never forget!More

Staff and setting would definitely rate a 5! However, only a set menu available. No vegetarian options at all! Struggled with deciphering of menu. The food we did have was very nice and presented beautifully!

The menu du chef at 32 euros is highly recommended. Very good quality ingredients, plenty to eat and great service. The location is also perfect with great views across the river. Only criticism would be slow service as we were there for two and a...half hours just for lunchMore

We had the lunch time 3 course set menu.. for 23.50€ . I had starter Sardines and Thor which was sardines and tuna with lemon butter sauce, which was and a few cold new potatoes.. maybe they had prepared it earlier and stored in the...fridge as it was cold. My main Filet de Bar poele with Beurre blanc nantais which was fried fish with lemon butter again the lemon butter sauce was a bit cold and hardened .. My dessert L’ Asslette gourmande Vallee which was three desserts which is usual with coffee but we had ask for as it did not come with the dessert… all the food was okay but a little cold especially the butter and lemon sauce I would have preferred warmer.. The view from the window is good.. I would recommend the dessert but don’t bother with the entrée or Plats.. I have eaten better.More

We had a very reasonably priced three course lunch for 22.50€. We started with a delicious amuse bouche of cream cheese and mousse (I think chicken - waiter said white meat) with cheese straws. My starter of sardine and mackerel fillets was divine, although my...husband wasn't sure that the flavours in his jambon et melon dish quite went together - the melon 'drink' that accompanied his, I thought was fab! My main course of courgettes and peppers stuffed with duck and olives was delicious, but yet again my husband felt his cod dish a little under seasoned. We were however both in agreement that the deserts were yummy. Paying the bill is a little odd as you have to go downstairs and pay in a little booth, and someone from upstairs in the conservatory whether we were sat runs down with your orders! All in all we enjoyed our meal and the quality was brilliant. You just would not get god of this class at home for this price.More

Expect exquisite cuisine, beautifully presented, superb service, and the view of the town's Italian designed buildings on the Erdre will make you think you're in a fairy tale setting. And the chef is Prince Charming. We had an imaginative appetizer with shellfish prepared three beautiful...ways, barre (fish) as a main dish, and a dessert variety plate. What a wonderful and memorable meal for a Sunday lunch!More

The food was good, service excellent, good ambience and a wonderful view over the river towards the chateau. We ordered the duck for main course, but they had run out and offered quail instead, this proved to be excellent and presented cut up on skewers.

This restaurant is fabulous ! My wife and I stayed in Clisson for a few days and visited this restaurant twice. The food is truly excellent - I have travelled the world frequently on business and have been often disappointed by the restaurants I have...visited - de la Vallee is wonderful. The menu is superb, the service excellent and the view from the balcony to the river adds to the charm of the place - The chefs menus (4 courses was 37 Euros) you would not find a comparative menu anywhere in London that would serve as good food in such a great location for the same price - This is as good as any Michelin star restaurant I have visited - I thoroughly recommend it !More

This restaurant overlooks the river, the old bridge and the castle - a fantastic view if you get a table my the window. The food was excellent, in particular the desserts. The child's menu (very similar to the adult menu) was only a third of...the price we paid. Great to have a properly priced children's menu that didn't offer chicken nuggets or pasta. The price, though not cheap, was certainly good value for the quality of the food and service.More
