Friendly to the thirsty

We had great pub-fare meals and lovely beer served by friendly and helpful staff. Be sure to ask why this pub is called the Ship Inn.

Great location for a meal, a snack or just a drink after a walk on the Dane Valley Way. Lovely inside with scrubbed tables and log burner stove. The food is far, far superior to the look of the menu (do not be put off). A limited selection of freshly prepared food - so much better than wide choice of... More

Lunch for 3 half way around our walk today. Freshly cooked, fantastic presentation, efficient service and very tasty. Lovely pub-inside & out. A very tasty piece of fudge when you order tea/coffee. Thoroughly recommended.

We had called at The Ship previously just for a drink while doing a walk in the area and vowed to go back one day to eat. It did not disappoint when we did return. The food and service was excellent. All home cooked food and proper chips. It's a credit to the management.

We haven’t been to the Ship for a while and it would appear that it has changed hands again. We had a pleasant lunchtime meal. The chips were gorgeous, I have had bigger thicker steaks but they were OK. There was not much Stilton in the Stilton and port sauce but I suppose they had to save some for my... More

After going in here for drinks on many occasions after beating for the local shoot I visited here with a friend for some lunch one day. Its under new management now, seems to be doing really well, the staff are all friendly and helpful. The food is superb, we only had paninis and chips as we wanted a light lunch,... More

My family, including large dog, had a mid-week lunch here during half-term. We sat in the family room next to a warm fire and were well looked after by the staff. We all thought the food was excellent and well worth the drive to this lovely village,

Although we had packed sandwiches for our walk these were quickly set aside when we saw the nice food available at the Ship. Our 3 wet and slightly muddy dogs were welcomed with a dog biscuit each. We enjoyed our meal warm and snug from the wood stoves while watching the rain outside. Must return in summer to enjoy their... More
