Friendly to the thirsty

We had great pub-fare meals and lovely beer served by friendly and helpful staff. Be sure to ask why this pub is called the Ship Inn.

We ate at The Ship Inn twice whilst having a brew day at the local Wincle Brewery and the food was excellent on both occasions. Hearty and locally sourced county Faye that perfectly suits it's rural surroundings and served by very warm, friendly and welcoming staff. A lovely country pub and well worth a visit.

I live locally to the Ship Inn and *had* avoided it of late as it had changed hands a couple of times, and the food had gone downhill for a period as had service. I went there a couple of days ago with a friend and we were delighted to see that it has upped its game again thanks to... More

As always, great food and excellent service. New summer menu sampled this evening. Good choice of food, all locally sourced and cooked perfectly. Our favourite pub!

A wonderful pub in Wincle with excellent food and fine ales. The friendly staff and warm welcome makes a visit well worthwhile. The menu is varied and fresh and suits all palettes. Whether a visit post walk or a destination visit, don't miss the boat!!

We have not visited the pub since August 2014. It has changed hands but has not lost any of its good service and quality food. The steaks were fabulous and the fish equally good. The menu has changed but still has good choices and value. The new team definitely need support to ensure they continue to offer excellent service and... More

We have visited the pub countless times over many years through a succession of well documented owners of varying quality. We knew the pub would be busy on a sunny bank holiday so arrived as it opened at 12:00 and ordered some drinks and 3 sandwiches - not the most complicated of orders and since we were one of the... Great location for a meal, a snack or just a drink after a walk on the Dane Valley Way. Lovely inside with scrubbed tables and log burner stove. The food is far, far superior to the look of the menu (do not be put off). A limited selection of freshly prepared food - so much better than wide choice of... More

Lunch for 3 half way around our walk today. Freshly cooked, fantastic presentation, efficient service and very tasty. Lovely pub-inside & out. A very tasty piece of fudge when you order tea/coffee. Thoroughly recommended.

We had called at The Ship previously just for a drink while doing a walk in the area and vowed to go back one day to eat. It did not disappoint when we did return. The food and service was excellent. All home cooked food and proper chips. It's a credit to the management.
