Fantastic Food and staff! great atmosphere and full of characters. The Staff were very polite and helpful in the brilliant selection of ales, the prices where also very good as the standard of food was quite high but absolutely delicious!

A belated review. In terms of local competition in the area, The Ship Inn is a solid yet relatively unknown. They had a little mix up with my starter order, and the black pudding fritters were a touch unimaginative. The lamb shank with mash was however great, and the cod course my friend had look excellent. The atmosphere was nice,... More

Best Sunday lunch and lamb shank we have found... Even my 4 year old cleaned his plate!! Will definitely be back and the scenery during the snow was amazing. We did a day out of sledging and ended up here by the fire. Highly recommended.

On a rather wintry evening, we ventured out to visit The Ship for dinner. Although we have visited it several times over the years, this is the first time since the new hosts have taken over and the refurb completed. The menu, whilst not vast, contains some different items and should suit most people and there are always the 'specials'... More

Recently visited for lunch after a few years absence and was pleasantly surprised by the food and welcome. The small fish and chips was excellent and the soup half sandwich offer is a nice combo, They also do doggie dinners for £3.50 if you want to treat your furry friend too (chicken or sausage and rice with gravy!), They have... Beautifully situated in the Dane Valley and, as the previous contributor suggested, a 'cosy, warm and welcoming' traditional English pub that ticks all the boxes. Lots of stone floored intimate dining areas, excellent JW Lees beer, very good service, and an extensive menu which includes well priced and particularly pleasant and well presented lunchtime alternatives. Can't fault it and will... More

A friend very kindly took me here on Monday lunchtime for a light meal, as the pub has recently undergone some refurbishment. Even though it was quiet, as you would expect on a Monday the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food delicious. I enjoyed a soup and half sandwich option and the portion was generous. The ambience... More

Since I last reviewed The Ship in 2012 the management has changed a couple of times and there have been building work and refurbishment carried out. I have read a couple of negative reviews of late and after visiting for a family Sunday lunch all I can say is the people who submitted these reviews have not been to the... More
