Excellent dog-friendly country pub.

My family, including large dog, had a mid-week lunch here during half-term. We sat in the family room next to a warm fire and were well looked after by the staff. We all thought the food was excellent and well worth the drive to this lovely village,

Although we had packed sandwiches for our walk these were quickly set aside when we saw the nice food available at the Ship. Our 3 wet and slightly muddy dogs were welcomed with a dog biscuit each. We enjoyed our meal warm and snug from the wood stoves while watching the rain outside. Must return in summer to enjoy their... More

Visited the Ship for lunch. Lovely setting, particularly when everywhere was covered in snow, although the car park looked like an ice rink so we parked on the road. We had booked a table and were warmly welcomed and taken straight away to our table next to the real fire. We liked the atmosphere and the staff were very friendly.... More

A perfect pub in the country, stone flagged floors and real fires. The food is not haute cuisine but it’s perfect for the price, food that has not come from a major food supplier. I had smoked haddock on bubble and squeak with a poached egg on top all perfectly executed. If the haddock had been day glow I would... More

After an early afternoon session on sledges in the snow in the nearby hills, we went back to where we started and enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Ship - a warm, cosy pub that was just the ticket on a crisp winter's day. We were served by an attentive and amiable lady, who must surely regret giving my eight-year-old... More

Went here just after Christmas after a long walk in the hills There were 10 of us ,plus one dog. We were all muddy but the new owners couldn't have been more welcoming. Food was really good. Great choices and some wonderful puddings . My beer drinking friends really rated the beer too which I guess is quiet important in... More

Very good selection of light meals, soups, sandwiches etc. All 5 meals were well presented and tasty. From chilli prawns, to baguettes, to Cheshire soup - all were very good. Excellent service from just one young lady who capably seemed to manage the bar and the serving of the meals. Timely and attentive service.

We have had our Group Christmas lunch here before and always been delighted, this time however the food took over an hour to appear...cant complain about the actual meal. Limited draught beer selection. Has the ownership changed?

We've had two lovely meals here in the last couple of months - hot homemade soups, hearty sandwiches, and tasty fresh fish and proper chips, all very comforting when you are hungry from walking on the hills - and this has restored our faith in the Ship Inn since July 2013 when we were treated terribly for asking if a... We had a Christmas Meal with a bunch of friends. It was very well made, the ambience was very good, and we were made very welcome. Sure to come again when in the area!
