This used to be one of our favourite watering holes but now its just ordinary. It still has a wonderful position in the midst of beautiful countryside and good walks, there was still a fire in the bar but it's no longer special. Since its recent change of hands it has lost the welcoming ambience it used to have. It's... More

The Ship is in a lovely spot although we visited on a miserable, wet day so stayed inside. It was actually quite cold and needed some heating on. We visited mid-week at lunchtime and it was actually reasonably busy with a steady flow of people. The beer was decent and the food was very good, although the chips weren't great.... More

We had eaten at the Ship 2/3 years ago and enjoyed it very much. Now under new ownership the standards are being maintained. My fishcake with pea puree and skinny chips was delicious and my husband commented on the good quality meat in his burger. Good food modestly priced.

Revisited the ship inn on sunday with my freind and it didnt fail to deliver. My freind and i had the pigeon as a main meal its actually a starter but big enough for a main if you have there home made chips and gorgeous thick cut granary bread and butter. Had this before the presentation is very different from... More

They've got a nice beer garden where you can enjoy excellent food and beers. It is a very child friendly place. You'll meet locals and hikers alike and therefore everybody is in a good mood.

Great place - you can easily meet people from the village or hikers. You easily get familiar. The guest room is nice and traditional. Staff is flexible and friendly.Food is delicious - I missed the local beer. A problem is that the entrence leeds directly to the street on a steep hill - mind your steps!

We went here on the way back from a trip to Buxton.I remembered going years ago and it being lovely so we had high hopes. First impressions were good, polite staff and nice atmosphere. The Sunday lunch however was very disappointing. It was £12.50 and for that I would expect home made Yorkshire pudding, not a half baked aunt Bessie style one.... More

Been to this place a few times and cannot speak highly enough about it. First time we went we did not order starters. The chef explained the kitchen was small and as it was busy it would take a while for the food to be ready. In the interim period we we're kindly given some bread and butter, not mighty... More

Stopped off here after completing a 5 mile walk with the dogs. Even though the pub was quiet the landlord was pleasant and chatty. I sat outside with the dogs and had two drinks. He very kindly let me use his landline phone as I didnt have signal on my mobile and needed to make a call. I arrived late... More
