Dinner out-A pleasure as always

I'm a regular at the ship inn, the food is excellent, I recommend the goats cheese starter. Very well presented and clean bar area, friendly staff. Will be returning soon!

The pub came well recommended so after a lovely walk called in for lunch. It was a very quiet Monday, mainly due to several closed roads in the area. We were quickly served by the friendly staff. We had the beef burger, chicken skewer and Stilton garlic mushrooms off the specials board and they were all fantastic. You have got... More

very disappointing, Service very slow and meal not up to standard. Went with a party to celebrate a birthday, Roast potatoes quite hard and the yorkshire puddings were quite tough, at a guess I would think that it was the chefs day off and everything had been warmed up.. Not what we expected.

The pub staff were very friendly and we had good banter with them. We didn't eat anything, but what we saw pass us looked good! The Guinness was good, but no real ale.

Stopped by chance whilst driving through the beautiful countryside around Wincle. The lunchtime menu included a specials board as well as the normal favourites and a quality pint to wash it down. My cheshire cheese and onion sandwich with chutney was lovely, good homemade and generous portions including chunky chips and a side salad. Will be passing through on a... More

Having been frequenting the Ship for many years from afar, I can now call it "my local". 10 of us descended for dinner the other night and, as ever, the food was presented well and was simply delicious. Whether the soup, black pudding or prawns through to the burgers, steak and vegetarian dish, we all agreed that it was an... More

Finally found the time to have lunch here after passing by many times in the past! This could become a favourite pub! Excellent food and well presented. Mouth-watering menu! The rooms are clean and there are many interesting artefacts etc. connected with the area and its history. The main reason we were so impressed with here is that the bar/waiting... More

This pub is a perfect stop off after a long bike ride. If you are a rambler perfect location to the near by hills. The food was perfect pub food. Feels very much like a true English pub, highly recommended.

Fantastic place to stop for mid afternoon lunch after a long trek over the Roaches. We sat outside in a lovely little beer garden, and enjoyed a large sunday roast dinner plus pudding, then unfortunately had to walk back again... Really great food, the ham and eggs was also excellent, as was the apple crumble.

What looks to be a small pub is in fact a tardis, quality food, great atmosphere, dogs welcome, small but we'll kept garden and superb quality menu with lots of daily specials well worth a stop if your walking near by .
