Good for: Families with children, Outdoor seating

Description: Set in country style garden surroundings, the pub offers a large car parking area with ample of outside seating for those sunny days. Coupled with a large childrens play area we also have pet ducks and chickens often wandering around the place. We are dog friendly and allow them into the bar area providing they are well behaved and on a lead. Inside the pub has a traditional feel about it with period features, exposed beams, hot fires for the winter months and low doorways, so do mind your head! We serve British pub food and always aim to surpass our customers expatiation but in the off chance if something is not quite right please do let us know so we can do our best to rectify things.

The Crown is a great place to go for a drink or a simple pub-food meal. It doesn't set itself up to be anything fancy but it's great at what it does - good beer, decent food, and a friendly atmosphere. We went there regularly during a recent holiday nearby. We had a negative experience on one occasion when our... More

Arrived for a meal and night out....strange atmosphere, only one barmaid serving though pub was very busy. Didn't feel welcomed. Menu not as on their website. Decided to move on.

Sorry you didn't decide to stay at the pub. I can't imagine which night you came in when it was very busy and where there would only be 1 member of staff on as every night for as long as I can remember there are at least 3 or 4 staff on from 6pm onwards including myself and that is... More

Food is brilliant here. A gorgeous country pub, very happy staff always willing to go the extra mile. Lovely play area for the children, lots of outside seating. Found it very clean and tidy. Restaurant area is superb. Great choice of real cask ales. Overall a brilliant experience. Will definetly be visiting again. Keep up the hard work guys

Staying in Nanternis about 15 min walk to this pub. What a find. Lovely setting, children's play area, bar area where dogs can go, lots of outside seating and gardens, plus proper restaurant for the evenings. We went for lunch and enjoyed rump steak and onion baguettes with salad and chips, and also quiche with new potatoes and salad. Couldnt... More

Well being local to the Crown we thought we would try it again after 6yrs! Now we know why we have not been in 6yrs! Very unwelcoming staff! On arrival asked if we could eat as it was 8.15, told yes and it was ok to sit anywhere! Sat in the bar and ordered a bottle of house red and... More

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to the Crown. I am surprised to hear of your comments about our bar maid who is very well liked by our regulars in the pub, however I have brought your comments to her attention and explained how you perceived her to be on that particular day and how she may avoid this... We stopped in for food. We found polite, friendly, happy staff. The food was "decent pub grub" and of great quality. Can't go wrong with this place. I'd happily stop in for a pint any time.

In a short sentence to describe what was meant to be a night celebrating.... It was a total waste of time and to be honest the food was appalling! Frozen chips, peas, onion rings which was advertised as "home-made" was poor and also what was advertised as a "sirloin steak" was very poor (made me think if it was british... More

We have noted your disappointment that night and apologise, and have also spoken to our supplier of the sirloin which is a local reputable butcher selling local welsh beef who supplies steaks and other local meats in large quantities without issue I am told. I do have all invoices to prove where and what steak is and therefore you need... More

Friendly staff, but this place has gone to look & feel tatty, which is a shame, as it used to be a great place to eat. Years ago you would be lucky to get a seat on a Saturday night....feels very run down now.

Arrived by accident, needing sustenance. What a find for dinner. Limited, dated (?) menu. Six or so Starters, eightish mains, plus a specials board. I ordered the Lamb Torte from the specials as the menu read as a basic pub grub list, my better half had the duck from the specials. As the tables around had their dishes delivered we... More

I just loved to read your review. I cannot express my appreciation enough for your positive vote of confidence. We have actually updated our menu look which you mentioned looked dated so hopefully that will be available soon. I think the lad you were talking about was Rob.. he is a little star player....very talented. I'll pass on your appreciation.... More

Have to question the steak - think it was horse as couldnt cut through it due to the gristle and it was cold!

Sorry you had a bad experience at the Crown. If staff were made aware at the time about your steak they would have been able to fix the problem for you without question. I will confirm though that at no point would we buy or consider to buy "horse" which is a fairly offensive thing to suggest as I keep... More
