Yummy Cream of Carrot Soup And fantastic Kootenay Cowboy Panini. Topped off with Harvestmoon Hemp Ale... Delish! Was doubtful when we walked in but loved the food!!!

If ever and whenever we are on the east shore of Kootenay Lake and are looking for a place to have lunch or a mid-morning or mid-afternoon break we invariably find our way to the Black Salt. The food is eclectic and outstanding. The outdoor patio is quaint and welcoming as is the inside seating. The owner/manager is engaging and... More

My wife and I were just looking for a snack and stumbled upon Black Salt Cafe, and have no regrets. The chef obviously has some education in the business and clearly showed that food can be both tasty and a work of art. We were on vacation so time and cost are not factors. For those who rush everything, may... More

I have eaten here on numerous occasions and only because its the only place in town which is not a pub. It has never improved and I constantly wonder why. The food for lunch is not hot except the sandwiches. The owner just does not seem to care at all. Most trade is passing through so no chance to chose... More

The restaurant itself is very simple , they serve tapas style , small dishes to share ,the variety is amazing , from tandoori chicken to local leeks coocked with cheese to a pear cooked for hours in red wine , and served with balsamic and pistacchios or lam brochettes served with figs jam . Amazingly GOOD and creative . Congratulations... More

This is the best restaurant meal I have had in ages. It is a tapis restaurant, providing lots of variety, very creative combinations (tandoori chick with watermelon), great presentation, and the flavours and taste was incredible. The portions were ample, my husband and I shared 5 dishes and we had plenty to eat. They have an outdoor patio with all... More

Everything about our dining experience here was 11/10. I had the Crab and Pita Pocket - 40% leg rock crab seasoned with cilantro and aioli inside an organic pita with sprouts, tomatoes and peppers - $12. The pita was stuffed, and I mean STUFFED, with goodies and was beautifully presented on the plate. My husband had the Pannini Belissimo -... More

It took 15 minutes to get glasses of water to our table and then another 45 minutes to get our lunch order. The food was really delicious and the patio is very nice, but the service was unacceptably slow. We weren't in a hurry, but an hour to get lunch?

The patio at the Black salt has some great views and the numerous plants give it a great vibe. Inside is very cozy and has numerous paintings. The service was top shelf, and the infused lemonade and iced tea and sangria's were amazing. The food was also incredible.......cant wait to go back!
