This little gem is going to be missed. We had the fortune to find and dine here, a few days before the doors are closed for good. A lovely choice of German classics and Chef creations - enjoyed by all. Bavarian beer, heavy food and smiles all around. The dining room was packed, and had reservations all night to come... More

From the moment we stepped in we were made very welcome. The sauerkraut and schnitzel at the Old Germany Restaurant, Amherst, was as good as any I have eaten in Cologne. The portions are generous but the side dish of sauerkraut tempted us nonetheless. The dining room had several local people dining and it was nice to overhear that the... More

I had heard a lot about this place so looked forward to something quite special. I was disappointed. The location and décor are fine and the staff are very friendly and solicitous, as is the kindly chef/owner. Prices are neither cheap nor overly expensive, but helpings are enormous and extremely filling. To be fair, summer is not the right time... More

This restaurant is a great find. It doesn't look fancy on the outside, but the food and service are great! Everything is made to order, and delicious. Our waitress was a pleasure and very efficient. The chef came out a few times to ask if we were satisfied with the meal. We were! We high Y recommend this place!

Tried this place based on others reviews and were not dissapointed. If you like german food this place is awesome and we had just been in Germany a few months before. It rivaled anything we had in Munich. The soups were so perfectly seasoned that we didnt need to add even salt and pepper. My husband had goulash soup and... More

Have eaten here a few times and while I thought it was really good, my husband is not a fan. However, the soup is out of this world. When I have family/company visiting we always go there for the sup and homemade bread. The service is always great and it is a wonderful, small restaurant with lots of charm, and... More

My husband is German and gave me the task of finding him some good german food on our vacation. We tried the Old Germany Restaurant and it was FANTASTIC! My husband had a cabbage roll that he swears was the best he's ever had since he moved to canada. We will be going back again this year!

Made a point of stopping in for supper after reading other reviews on TripAdvisor. I was very impressed. Couldn't decide between the saurbrauten or the schnitzel but was very happy to have chosen the Mushroom schnitzel. It came with bread and lettuce salad with a choice of creany or oil dressing. It was tasty but the very best was the... More
