The Printingdon is a nice looking cafe on Ladysmith's Main Street. It has great location and eye appeal with a warm brick interior that almost cries out for you to come in and shake off the rain with a warm cup of coffee. Unfortunately neither the food nor service ever lived up to expectations. The cafe style food sounds appealing... More

A friend and myself stopped by the cafe on a Sunday afternoon for coffee around 3.40pm. The coffee, hot chocolate and butter tarts served to us were good. We were unaware that the cafe closed at 4pm and neither did they inform us instead they turned out all the lights at 4.05 pm leaving us in the dark - I... More

My friend and I are both sensitive to wheat, so we were pleased to find a restaurant in Ladysmith with so many options. They try to make their soups gluten-free whenever possible, as well as having gluten-free bread and buns available for all their sandwiches and hamburgers. We came in about 40 minutes before close on a Saturday night (they... More

I went into the restaurant to get take out for myself, my wife, and my daughter. I ordered 3 halibut and chips, costing me over $40, which was quite expensive. To make it worse, the fries were not very good. They seemed old and bland, not homemade, fresh, or good whatsoever. To top it all off, the fish was burnt!... More

I've read some of the other reviews on the Printingdun, and disagree. We ordered the fish and chips with ginger coleslaw and we were very happy with our meal. Everything was hot and fresh. The service was fast and good, maybe because we did an early Good Friday dinner at 5:30pm? I don't think you can even try to compare... More

We'd enjoyed this café previously when passing through Ladysmith, but apparently it's now under new ownership. This time we experienced apathetic service and mediocre food, so we'll give it a miss from now on.

This poor restaurant really needs to try again. Maybe look around at successful Restaurants in Victoria or Vancouver and get some ideas on style, menus, and service. Style, the new vinyl table coverings in beige .... NO. The walls could use some decorating and the menu board put back would be a start. Something in the black windows to give... More

Had lunch at the Beanery today.... The shrimp sandwich was soooo good! The soup was tasty and obviously homemade! A rare find today!! Felt very welcome, great service!

After just moving to Ladysmith a few short months ago, I thought I would give this place a try. Nothing too spectacular from the outside, plain really, but they seemed to be advertising some sort of new opening. After walking in, there was a certain musty odor, not too sure what was causing it, but thought I would stay. After... More

Take heart vegetarians. This place Ladysmith is right for you. Restaurant was once the site of the Miners Union and later a bar with an upstairs bordello. Ingrid owns it now. She personally cooks all the food served. Vegetarians can enjoy: Breakfast wraps, Vegetarian sandwiches, Falafel wraps, The most amazing vegetarian chilli, Vegetarian soup of the day (Today it was...
