On a day trip to Lunenburg a fifth generation townsperson at the visitor center mentioned that all the restaurants on the main street were chef run, "not just cooks". We chose the Salt Shaker Deli based on a merchant's recommendation; it was great. We were outside on the back deck with a nice view of the harbor activity. The fish... More

When we met up with my son in Lunenburg he recommended this restaurant. The food was fresh and local and of course the "lobsta" was delicious! They do something nice with fresh herbs on most of their dishes. The dining on the porch was wonderful with an awning and great views of some yachts and boats in the water. They... More

My Australian friend was visiting me this week and I decided to take her down to Lunenburg to see the sights. I had heard about this restaurant and was very excited to try it. The chalkboard outside said it was listed by Lonely Planet as the no. 1 restaurant. Inside, there were quite a few people eating and a large... More

We ate in this café twice during our short visit to this beautiful town because the food was so fantastic, especially the fish dishes. The staff and ambience were also excellent.

Most of the menu is gluten-free including their amazing chowder! So many choices of GF mussel dishes it's hard to decide. The wait staff was very busy, but still able to take the time to demonstrate their knowledge of proper food handling for Celiac's. They even had GF beer. Not only safe, but the best seafood I had on my... More

This perfectly charming restaurant offered terrific mussels and a great lobster roll. We were quite happy. We scored a table under an umbrella on the porch and had views of the Lunenberg harbor. The wait staff was busy but very capable and helpful. Local beers rounded out the experience.

I had heard this place had good seafood chowder so dropped in to see for myself. The Chowder was fabulous. The best I have discovered so far. It is very rich and creamy and has a smoked bacon tinge to it that is distinctive. The scallops were numerous and to die for. By far the most delicious scallops I have... More

Their menu is very interesting, with a good selection of seafood. They also have some nice beers, including local ones. I don’t think they have a fryer on site, so don’t expect fish and chips or fried clams here, but there’s plenty on the menu to satisfy your taste. There was a bit of confusion about what was offered on... More

Loved the seafood pizza and local beer. Patio is overlooking the harbour, so that was a perfect place to enjoy the great food, view and weather.

Visited the Salt Shaker for an early dinner on a Saturday night, and good thing we were early, as it filled up fast and had a line. We had the shrimp cocktail, fresh shrimp rolls, and lobster rolls. The shrimp cocktail was not what we expected, and was a bowl of shrimp mixed in a garlic sauce (3/5). The fresh... More
