we eat here often with our family including young kids. Some thing for everyone and the sushi is fresh, service is good, and consistently a splendid time.

One of the best Sushi restaurants in a little ski town. We have never had a bad experience at Yamagoya - yes it can be busy at time especially in ski season with line ups outside the door before 5pm on weekends - you have to accept this - standard response from servers is approx 45 mins when its busy... What a gem this is! It was so busy when we went, but we were able to get chairs up at the bar. The service was impeccable and do those girls do a great job! They were very helpful at suggesting some popular items that we might enjoy. The sushi was some of the best we have ever had -... More

Went tonight for supper. It was busy and very hot inside. Servers were excellent. Nice selection of food. First sushi restaurant I've seen Kimchi on the menu. Sushi rolls were a little too big- too much rice. We liked the lobster roll and the tuna tataki. I loved the garlic chip garnish on different menu items. When they say that... More

Great ambience in authentic surrounds. Our meal was presented in a private booth with sunken table sans shoes, though other diners had options of table dining or more casual bar service. The food and drink service was unrushed and friendly. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted unique. New sensations along with old favourites. A table was ready promptly although at... More

Big city quality sushi. This is definatley the best sushi restaurant I have been to outside of a major center. It is very popular therefor it can be hard to get into at prime times. It is a little on the pricey side but they have no compitition so that is to be expected. The wait staff is experienced and... More

I love their sushi and actually have never had anything here I do not enjoy. We try to go at least twice a year I love it when their deck is open and you can sit outside. The atmosphere is very Japanese with a real crowded feel and like everyone is eating together just like in Japan. I have never... More

While snowboarding in Fernie last weekend, we decided to try a few local places for dinner. First night we tried Yamagoya, it was packed full of people, mostly groups, so our wait time was only 10-15 min- which was nice. The appetizers were decent, we ordered about 5-6 rolls of a good variety. We really felt like sushi that night,... More

Came here with some friends during the week and absolutely loved it. Atmosphere, food and staff all superb. Had to wait about an hour for a table, however the staff were very accommodating, bringing us a drinks menu to select from while we waited for our table. Personally ate the agedashi tofu, tempura vegetables and spicy vegetable rolls which were... More

This is a super busy place. Two of us waited an hour to sit down and end up at the bar. It was packed, loud and hopping for a Wednesday night. The staff were on point. It was busy but the place ran like a charm. The food was excellent. We had a wide variety of selections from the menu... More
