We enjoy Yama Goya, it is a very established restaurant in Fernie. They are very busy and we appreciate the effort they make to have good service. It is nice to have such a diverse group of restaurants in Fernie.

The chef has put twist and flair on many classic sushi recipes. They are all brilliant. I cannot recommend just one thing but the tuna tatami and tuna bomb were spectacular....that said so were the dragon roll and my kids loved the teriyaki chicken roll. Atmosphere is very cozy with awesome modern vibes. They do not take reservations, so make... More

This restaurant offers sushi which rivals or exceeds many downtown Vancouver locations. The waitresses are excellent and like other reviewers here I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience at Yamagoya, quite unusual for a Fernie restaurant. Service moves along at a good pace, not too hurried but, not too slow. The sushi is well prepared... More

Great sushi restaurant. Expensive but worth it. It was cooked perfectly and super yummy! Service was super friendly and our server was awesome at recommendations which turned out to be a great choice. It is always busy here so getting in early is a must.

I've been all over the world (including a lot of Asia) and I've never beat this place for its sushi. Which is strange as it's 500 miles inland. Really cool private rooms and a fancy main restaurant. The staff will make sure you have hot sake at all times. Do try the plum wine, the sesame seed ice cream and... More

we eat here often with our family including young kids. Some thing for everyone and the sushi is fresh, service is good, and consistently a splendid time.

One of the best Sushi restaurants in a little ski town. We have never had a bad experience at Yamagoya - yes it can be busy at time especially in ski season with line ups outside the door before 5pm on weekends - you have to accept this - standard response from servers is approx 45 mins when its busy... What a gem this is! It was so busy when we went, but we were able to get chairs up at the bar. The service was impeccable and do those girls do a great job! They were very helpful at suggesting some popular items that we might enjoy. The sushi was some of the best we have ever had -... More

Restaurant was busy the night we visited. Have to admit our initial server was not friendly at all and didn't seem pleased to seat us in the waiting area while we had a drink and waited for our table. Thankfully when we were moved to the sushi bar, we had a much friendlier vibrant server who was excellent. We had... More
