Midday Stop at the Museum of Canadian History

I recently took a friend to this very contemporary museum cafe. Decor is stark but inviting. Menu very creative. We had chicken dish with brie, so good. Prices are mid range. I would go back.

Had lunch there on a Sunday with a girlfriend and both of our 2 yr old boys. The waitress brought each of our kids a page with characters to colour, however the crayons were being used at other tables so they had nothing to colour with. It took 15 mins before she came back to get our order. The adults... More

The setting and the concept is nice. A bistro/restaurant in a museum; a good alternative to snacks and fast-food that are usually offered in other museums. The menu options are limited but interesting and the prices are reasonable (8-14$ if I remember well). I had great expectations given the good reviews on Trip Advisor. However my experience was disappointing. The... More

My daughter and I visited the museum and had brunch at the bistro. I ordered the cranberry salad, which was excellent: fresh, light, and flavorful. She had the gluten-free waffles, which were a large portion (I helped her eat a bit) and delicious. Delightful berry jam and whipped cream accompanied the waffles. The service was considerate. We must eat gluten-free... More

Wife had the elk pasta, our guests ate the Duck pasta and Fig Sandwich. The fish'n'chips was one of the best I have had the ottawa valley. Down to earth food items nicely prested and not pretentious at all.Great place to eat while visiting the museum.

Had not been there in a while but found the food was as excellent as we remembered. My wife and I had the very tasty cod burger. Our grand-daughter who is vegan was able to find a salad to her liking and her friend who is vegetarian selected a very nice pasta and mushrooms. The service however could have been a... More

A civilized break from museum visiting. Good food, good value. Good variety of items. Attentive service. We really enjoyed our lunch.

Service is really friendly and good. Our small boys were immediately given crayons and paper to play with, as well as water in plastic cups. Their fish and chips was fresh and tasty, their dessert just what kids like - ice cream. The grown-ups had smoked duck pasta and bison. We had never had bison before but from now on... More

My family and I had a delightful lunch at the Bistro Boréal last week while visiting the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa-Gatineau. My son and my father shared a lamb poutine, which was unlike any other poutine you might have in Quebec; fries and cheese curds were topped with a very flavourful lamb stew. I had a sandwich made with... More
