We are repeat visitors as this is one of our favorite restaurants and country inns in North America. I suppose we will keep coming back for the ambiance of the inn and excellent restaurant. As 30 year repeat guests we expected a little better recognition than we got. Where the owners used to personally greet and welcome us each visit,... More

Absolutely adored the quinoa salad, I want to eat it every day for the rest of my life!! The food served for my brothers wedding was delicious. Almost everything was GF which was so lovely. I loved being able to eat everything except for 2 things rather that only 2 things.

Recommend Sooke Harbour House ? Absolutely! We had heard that it was good but didn't expect it to be so good. The flavours in our food were stunning, and the use of local and 'in season' produce inspired. The time and trouble taken over getting it just right reflected the Chef's talent and attention to detail. There is a set... More

Unfortunately the food was not up to all the hype. Far too many pickled items which did not marry well with other menu items and braised lamb? I feel the lamb should have been a nice tender cut served medium rare for the price. the best part of the dinner was the spectacular dessert. The servers were lovely and the... More

We had a lovely sea view from our table but the chairs were rickety and very uncomfortable. The four course menu had very limited choices and, as it turned out, foraged food doesn't necessarily taste all that great. The server was inappropriately casual for that type of dining room. When a customer inquired about the crab, she said it didn't... More

Chef Oliver worked with my dietary issues and the meal was great. I would go back in a second and if you are staying at SHH enjoy your breakfasts with Chef Kira who will certainly prepare wonderful meals and is very thoughtful about local, organic foods.

I have eaten (and stayed) at the Sooke Harbour House on multiple occasions but this is the first time that I arranged just to drive over for a dinner. The restaurant does serve ala carte but you are offered a 4 course tasting menu that for the price is really the way to go. The wine pairing is only an... More

This is one of the top-rated restaurants in the region. Very up-scale. I was there most recently with a party of four. We agree that the grounds are interesting, the ambiance is good, the service ditto, the food fair to excellent (quite uneven) and that the wine list is very large and very, very, very expensive. I can think of... More

This is the real thing — a truly world-class restaurant. No need to go a la carte, the daily menu is a seafood delight. Stonkingly expensive though.

We had heard of Sooke Harbour House for years and when planning our honeymoon trip to Vancouver Island, we were sure to reserve a table many weeks ahead. What a disastrous evening! We were led to a table by the wall and when we pointed to others by the window, asking if we could sit at one of them, the... More
