Very Enjoyable - terrific view

Our son and his family live in the area and he recommended this restaurant to us. We treated everyone to dinner and we were very pleased with the experience. It wasn't busy when we arrived, with just 3 tables seated and only one girl acting as hostess, server, and bussing the tables. The service... read more

I've eaten here about 10 times and love the location, especially if you can sit outside. It's also a great spot to stop for a break if you're cycling on the Galloping Goose. However, I've noticed that the last three - four times we've been the food has gone downhill, with yesterday's visit being the worst yet. The food is... More

We were driving the Pacific Marine Route this week and by the time we got to Sooke it was time to eat. At the information centre it was suggested that we might like this as it has big windows overlooking the Sooke Basin. It is at the north end of the town. Except for the trees, it looked like a... Just visited today. The food was fresh and delicious with bright lively flavors at unpretentious prices. The service was excellent and the view and ambience second to none. I have had several disappointing dining experiences lately and so this last minute lunch was an absolutely delightful surprise. I highly recommend this refreshing and fun establishment.

On New Year's Day we planned to go to the 17 Mile House, but they were closed and we fortunately spotted the small Open sign for the Stickleback Eatery a little further down the road. The view of the small cove was lovely and very West Coast, and we both enjoyed our meals very much (seafood chowder and braised beef... More

The Stickleback Eatery was our destination after a great day touring from Parksville via The Pacific Marine Circle Route and we were not disappointed. We read the reviews on this restaurant prior to our departure and we were not disappointed. The chowder and salads were super tasty and abundant for the half order. The atmosphere was very nice and the... More

We ordered the halibut, not the fish and chips though that was also very good but the dinner. The sauce was amazing, the vegetables were crisp and delicious.

We have been cycling to Sooke year after year and it's become one of our favourite holidays! We enjoy staying at Arbutus Cove B&B and the first time we ever stayed there we walked along the Galloping Goose trail into town so we could find a place to enjoy a lunch together! Well, after a 20 minute walk, we bumped... More

We visited here on a Sunday night and it was pretty quiet and we were seated promptly and the service was good and attentive. However the food was not enjoyable. The menu is pretty relaxed and casual which is fine, if it is also tasty, but the things we ordered were not well put together. I wanted something light so... More

If you are cycling the Galloping Goose trail out of Victoria, turn left at KM 40 and head down the hill to this restaurant. Great patio for casual dining and with a varied, interesting menu this restaurant commands a unique location near Sooke. Coming from the prairies our group went for fresh fish and chips and cold beer. The food... More
