Skipped the traditional sugar shack this year as I always wanted to visit one of the oldest restaurants in the laurentides. Enjoyed their version of the sugar shack menu. Everything was great except the ham. I was disappointed with it's lack of thickness and the heavy smoked flavor was not appealing. Other than that.......no complaints. The restaurant is very clean... Living close by, we often go to this restaurant & we are never disappointed. The food is always good, the service is friendly & the atmosphere is very Quebecois, warm (love the huge fireplace in winter) & relaxed. Always busy on weekends so if you don't want to wait, go during the week if you can.

Hi-came for breakfast in February-thoroughly enjoyed our food but was disappointed that they don't stock Gluten free bread for toast-especially as other cafes in Val David do.They sell GF bread at Metro in the village so it shouldn't be too hard to source-could be even better!

I took a bunch of friends from Florida on a hockey trip to Montreal this past weekend and had no choice but take them to this phenomenal breakfast place. Everyone had the Ogre Breakfast which was absolutely delicious. I personally loved their baked beans that have a touch of maple syrup in them as well as their toast. The service... More

This is a great place for a nice leisurely breakfast! Inside you feel like you are in a big log cabin with a beautiful large fire place in the center. The whole place smells amazing from the food and the fire place. The meats are smoked and delicious! If you sit on the inside porch you get a different perspective... More

This restaurant, a mainstay in the Laurentians for many years, will never disappoint you. We had lunch ( really breakfast) there on a Tuesday in late August, and there was a waiting line at 1:15pm for lunch. It has always been a favourite of the locals. We both had bacon and eggs, baked beans and their country bread, with home... More

This restaurant is on the 117 and worth every Km travelled to go eat there. Opened for breakfast and lunch only, this place has great food and great atmosphere. You must try the ham and baked beans. They also have a boutique where they sell these and more(homemade jams, quiche and tourtière ) My dad took us there 35 years... More
