The previous viewer said the Sandbar Cafe wasn't there anymore but they are wrong. I'm camping just down the road and just drove by it and customers in the Cafe. Ate there a couple weeks ago and it was very good.

We looked for it and asked where we were staying and they said it was no longer there and had been torn down.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way home from Victoria and were surprised at how good it was. The pancakes were *very* good. Will definitely stop here again.

Our first visit since the management change was a success. Good food, friendly and prompt service and reasonable prices, all in very pleasant surroundings. We each had a different dish and agreed that they were all very well prepared of ample size.

My husband and I came for dinner about a month ago on live music night. I was a bit hesitant to come back because the food had not at all impressed me in the past. But I decided to give it another try because of the way they support local artists/musicians. We were very pleasantly surprised. Our meals were very... More

Was there a couple on a Friday. The special was outstanding - homemade butternut squash raviolis in a beurre blanc sauce. Each ravioli had a perfectly cooked shrimp on top of it. Heavenly! Another new dish is the shrimp gyoza - also great! And then there was the music -- so much fun. Great fun, great food ... what could... More

We are a local family, this little roadside diner is our favourite restaurant in the Qualicum area and is the place where we take all of our out of town guests for dinner. Good friendly service and by far the best fish 'n chips we have ever had.

So sad when we dropped by tonight and didn't see Ellen. And then heard the news. Waitress said they had closed for several months but now new owners. New menu too. And paint. Oysters overcooked and cole slaw bland. Will try again in a couple of months and hoping the food improves. Such a great opportunity for the new owners.... More

We just stopped in last week to see the closed sign on the door. We are very sad to find out the reason for its sudden closing. Our hearts go out to her family friends & customers that just simply adoured her. This awsome Lady was kind enough to let me put my birdhouse's in her restaurant to sell. From... More

On two occasions now a group of at least ten friends that I hike with, and myself, have dropped in without previous notification at the Sandbar cafe. Both times we have had very friendly service, plus really good food. Nothing exotic, soups and sandwiches, excellent fish and chips, early evening hot meals at really great prices. Just an ordinary cafe... More
