This restaurant seems to be a local favourite. Food is predictable pub food. It is clean, friendly and reasonably priced. I haven't had anything to rave about but nothing I would complain about.

Great little pub! Always love going here - service is good, portions are large, and their burgers can't be beat!! Very good with substituting (veggie patties or chicken breast instead of beef) and their staff is always lovely. My only qualm is that they often run out of the only hard cider (Thornburey) that they have, but their wine and... More

The food is ok. Not 'excellent' or 'horrible'. Just ok. What one would expect. The staff are friendly and smile whether they are your server or not. The female half of the ownership though shouldn't be wait staff. I find her cool, distant and not the least bit friendly. If the Olde English pub is to go back to what... More

Stopped for dinner before going to the theatre. The fish and chips wasn't great -had expected more from an English Pub. The server could have been more familiar with the beers on tap. For example, she described one as being hoppy, when ordered was not hoppy at all. The beer menu was not up to date either. Average experience.

We visited this restaurant after taking a boat tour. We were discouraged that so many restaurant in the town were closed and thought that we would have to settle for almost any restaurant, but were really pleased with our dinner at the Old English Pub. We could see that the manager (owner perhaps?) wanted all the guests to have a... More

We had dinner at the Old English Pub after returning from the Thousand Islands cruise. Very interesting menu. Generous and tasty salads. We both had burgers...one stuffed with a four-cheese blend and roasted garlic, the other with bacon, crispy bacon, peameal bacon and a cheddar-bacon sauce...very delicious...came with hand-cut, unsalted fries! We will return to try other menu items. Service... More

Went to the Pub on Sunday Aug 31 with my son, daughter and 2 grand children. Good experience overall. Food was hot and tasty and the service was attentive and friendly. Prices were reasonable.

Have a cottage on the Rideau and went to "Gan" to do some banking/shopping. Hubby & I decided to grab a bite to eat and went in for dinner. Very English pub style atmosphere. Service was very quick and waitress very friendly. She suggested Friday special ... 2 for 1 beer battered fish and chips and we ordered. The portions... More

Husband and I stopped in for lunch. Ordered burgera and an appetizer of mini york pudding. Appetizer arrived quickly and was tasty (husband really loved). Burgers weren't able to be cooked to order (hubby likes rare) but they were perfect for me. We both enjoyed our selections. Platters were so full we were unable to finish everything! We will return... More

I rarely write a review of any establishment within a arbitrary radius of my home. I often find hometown reviews elsewhere to be biased based on local scuttlebutt, bruised egos and family loyalties and as such strive to be objective in my own. I seldom visit Gananoque for entertainment/dining purposes. It's quite close to my home and the cliché proverb... More
