Tasty and fairly authentic Thai food in South Burnaby

Came here with a friend. The food was great the first time, but I noticed the portions are a bit smaller this time around. Still tasty but just not as filling as it was in the past.

Several years ago, after a working visit to North-East Thailand, and since I enjoy spicy meals, I became very fond of Thai food. At the time I was living in South Burnaby and I noticed this restaurant shortly after its opening. I was always delighted with the ample variety of curries, soups, and salads. A big plus was the pleasant... More

This was always our favourite restaurant for years. Paul is one of the nicest guys out there. And here comes the But, the food is getting smaller and smaller in portions. I wonder if the Chef has changed? The thing I noticed now is the place is getting dirty, the table tops and the washrooms. Makes me wonder about the... More

I have not been back for years but when hubby wanted to visit, I thought, sure, I will give it another try. I was pleasantly surprised. Ordered Tom Yum Gai and it was delicious. Hubby had chicken with mushroom on rice. All tasted great. Certainly not your typical Thai dishes. Looking forward to returning and trying something new.

We just moved into the neighbourhood and saw this place just a couple of blocks. I really enjoy Thai food so this was the first place we visited. What a treat! The food was excellent and the service was pretty attentive (however we had gotten there right when they opened at 5 pm and there was only one other couple... More

My wife and I eat here regularly. The lunch specials are cheap (under $10), tasty and are decent sized portions. I like the Red Curry (it is not too spicy) and comes with a cucumber salad taster dish and a chicken skewer with the peanut sauce. You might also order the Thai coffee. Their Pad thai is great too.

We spent 3 months traveling through South East Asia, including almost a month in Thailand. This restaurant is the closest to authentic that we have found. We've only gone for lunch and found the food to be fantastic and the prices extremely reasonable. The décor is not much to write home about, but the nice staff and amazing food completely... More

I don't want to write a review about Lhy Thai for very selfish reasons -- I don't want the secret out. I don't want line-ups out the door. On the other hand, Paul the owner is a sweet guy and he deserves whatever success comes his way. So here we go... I've been coming to Lhy Thai for years, often... More

My hub and I went to this restaurant last night. The decor is very homey and the owner was really nice - feel like my dad! My hub ordered red curry and I ordered prawn Phat Thai. The food portion was great so we finished them all without having to go box. I found the sauce for Phat Thai was... More
