The Mad Chef Restaurant has a wonderful menu and great food. In its former location this was my favourite place to eat. But I have been to the new location twice now and there is a dull roar going on in that place??? What a relief to walk outside to the relative quiet of traffic noise. I cannot go back... More

First time visit, after seeing it on the food network show. You got to eat here. Decor is different, Food was very good, service could be a little more attentive, the downside was the acoustics, Both my friend and I wear hearing aids, and we couldn't hear each other talk without shouting, this was not pleasant. The serving staff should be... Last Friday my partner and I thought we'd treat ourselves to dinner at Mad Chef Cafe. I ordered my favourite item, the large berry fling salad, which turned out to be a sad version of it's formal self. The salad consisted of chopped cabbage, romaine lettuce, with a bunch of alfalfa and bean sprouts on top, garnished with a slice... More

This restaurant was recommended by several people in Courtenay as having been featured on a the Food Network. The three of us agreed that the food was average at best. My duck meatball pizza was beautifully presented but tasteless. The meatballs might have been unseasoned beef or pork here was so little flavour. The sauce too was flavourless and it... More

Friends had told me that I was going to enjoy 'the mad chef' and you know what? I did. The food is a fusion of amazing different tastes - textures all mixed together with a bit of fun and silliness. I had an 'animals taste good' burger' and it was great. The cornucopia of different meats and sauces were brilliant... More

The gluten free shroom of doom pizza is worth riding the ferry for any day. The pizza is tipped with pesto and cream cheese, huge chunks of lobster meat and mushroom slices... Heavenly

I visited the Mad Chef Cafe in Courtenay BC last weekend with a friend - this restaurant does not disappoint! Such a fun atmosphere and incredible food. My friend had the tuna and I had the shrimp and crab burger. The shrimp and crab patty was incredible, with large lumps of crab. Their mad mayo is fabulous. Make sure you... More

Our monthly Lunch outing with friends was very exciting.First time at Mad Chef in their new location.I found the atmosphere trendy and for a younger crowd, but the burgers were Superb. The lunch hour was packed, the service was good. All of us ordered different burgers and the 4 of us were quite impressed,we will be back. Not a place for a romantic lunch and... Service was polite, perhaps a bit slow. The interior falls short of being trendy and feels quite soulless. The menu looked promising and varied. Alas, the mad chef drowned our food in cheese, which made it quite bland. Therefore I can't recommend this establishment.

Been there twice, excited to try it out after seeing them featured on a Canadian cooking show. Waitress seemed grouchy. Food was ok but the off-mood sort of diminished the experience- sorry guys.
