If you never eat another hamburger in your life you first must try the burgers at Mad Chef. This was our 2nd visit so had to try a different burger. Uncle Buck looked interesting and I wanted to try elk. The meat was very mild, the burger was enormous and was the tastiest burger I have ever eaten. I don't... More

On the way to the airport we stopped for lunch prior to our flight. We had heard about this restaurant as very very unique. It has aan extensive menu and portions are large. You can definitely share here. The food was very tasty and the service was fast and friendly. Definitely a good place to eat.

Great sandwiches and salads with a gourmet twist. Despite being nestled in the heart of the shopping district on 5th Street, the little restaurant is a great find.

My family treated me to lunch at the Mad Chef today. And what a delightful treat it was! The menu is a "read" in itself ...... Items' names are humorous and quirky ...... But well-explained. I really enjoyed my Mad Chef burger on a rustic brown bun ......... Next time I'll order the delicious-looking Caesar salad instead of the garden... More

I ate at Mad Chef a few times when it first opened in 2011 and was very impressed. I went back to Courtenay in April 2015 and looked for the restaurant again as it had moved from its original location. As expected, the food was amazing and the quirky attitude and sense of humour in its menus and merchandise hasn't... More

Finally after two years we made it here! had great hopes. I love to cook and love my food. Burger was juicy and cooked well. Everything else we got was not so good. Taco's are plain and so small. My miso soup was SO spicy I couldn't eat it. and they didn't take it off my bill. If im going... More

Looooove this place, I look forward to going back every time I visit. The menu is huge and full of so many unique and delicious options. I have never had anything I didn't like. This time was the Pizza, it was amazing! Staff are always friendly. Prices good. TRY IT!

Excellent soups and salads. Service was extremely slow - went @ 2:00 - not too many people there so no reason for slow service. Actually saw entire table leave without paying - they'd tried for 20min. to get their bill.Does NOT justify walking out.
