Courtenay is blessed with an abundance of great eateries. We went to Zocalo's after the farmers market and had a delightful brunch. The owners (?) are very involved in the community and the food was good. Another great place to explore in Courtenay.

I have been gluten free for 6 years, and this was the best place I have eaten in that does not advertise itself as the gluten free, but they made it for me. The waiter was helpful, asked the cook to tweak recipe for me, and all worked well., salmon was delicious. The atmosphere in this place was friendly, relaxed,... More

A small menu but a taste of something different, interesting combos, often fine music, great teas, coffees and desserts Right downtown in Courtenay, lots of people watching and four blocks of cool and funky shops around. Great place for an afternoon sitdown while seeing the sights or a morning coffee while to get you going.

Coffee is only fair. The regular coffee is better than the espresso for some reason. Friendly place to meet friends and just hang out. Food is ok but reasonable.

After our visit at Farmer's Market we stopped in for a coffee. Nice atmosphere for family and friends. Serves light lunches. Busy place. We had coffee and fresh lemon muffin.

I love the Zocalo - it has delicious food & drinks, good prices, and a nice atmosphere. The food is really some of the best value, particularly on the weekends. There are often cool events happening here, too. I only wish it were open later from Sun.-Wed.

We enjoyed some time here while we were hanging out downtown on our vacation. There was live music, and comfortable seating. It was light and bright with lots of windows. The service and coffe were good, but I would probably go back mostly for the atmosphere.

We joined friends for a visit to the Zocalo Cafe to enjoy coffee and jazz last Friday. The trio (female vocalist, guitar, & double bass) was very good. Hot apple cider a tad sweet but others thoroughly enjoyed their coffee and herbal tea. I'd highly recommend a stop here, especially on Friday evenings from fall till spring (which, as I... More

The coffee was average, the food I could've made at home for 1/4 of the price and the service was mumbled and sub-par. There are many fantastic cafes on the island that support local causes and have a green focus. This one comes with a complimentary eye roll at how naive you (the consumer) are and what a bother it... I really their selection of tea's and coffee's. The breakfasts are very good and service is good. The live entertainment is fun to listen to but it is always too loud, and you can't visit with anyone during the live music.
