I have dined at Locals many times and this is more of a general review. The staff and food definitely set the bar in the valley. i do not have a favourite dish as I haven't hit everything on the menu yet but I have never been steered astray by the staff recommendations. Great winelist as well. Local sourced foods... More

To have that incredible piece of history and architecture in our view while we were staying in the Old House Hotel was so inviting. On the review from family who had eaten there the day before we decided to have brunch with them before going to a wedding. From the moment we walked in the door until we left (even... More

I had seen Local's on a previous trip and knew I had to eat there. It was highly recommended by everyone we talked to, with a beautiful setting on the river and in an old house. Very classic and classy. The food was a 10/10 and yes, it was one of the best restaurants that I've eaten at. After taking... More

We went to Locals for lunch today. It was hard to choose, everything on the menu looked good but I ordered the Crab and Shrimp Sandwich and my husband ordered the Pull Pork Sandwich. We had Caesar Salad made with roast garlic, large shavings of cheese and capers and my husband also had the Corn Chowder which was the daily... More

Went to Locals for the first time to celebrate both our birthdays and our anniversary (35 years) all in the month of July. We were seated on the patio with the lovely views and our server was a delightful lady, who was very good at her job, friendly and attentive with advice to offer. I had the bouillabaisse (absolutely stuffed... More

Probalby the nicest restaurant we found, by recomendation from other vacationers, in Courtenay. We didn't make a reservation for a Sunday evening meal and were easily accomodated for a late evening meal. Nice menu and a good variety of daily specials. I'd recomend seafood as the surrounding area has great access to the fresh seafood, Haliburt, shrimp and scallops. The... More

Hello, I am so pleased that you enjoyed your dinner with us!! Yes, I agree, we do have the most amazing fish and seafood in this region. As well, we have over 450 small farms in the Comox Valley, making it possible to base our busy restaurant entirely on locally sourced ingredients. Our temperate micro climate, ancient riverbed soil, and... More

Locals restaurant at the Old House is a wonderful restaurant! The crab and shrimp stack is fantastic! and highly recommended. My friend and I share it (more than enough for two to share) - I had the jumbo prawn with risotto - absolutely delicious. To finish things off we shared the trio of creme brûlée - a chai, caramel and... More

We enjoyed an excellent meal here. We especially liked their emphasis on local ingredients and having both a variety of seafood and the option of having it cooked a number of different ways. Choose your seafood, then choose how you want it cooked. The setting is attractive, the service was good and the overall food experience was very satisfying.

The food here is wonderful. My husband had the melt in your mouth bison and I had seafood linguine with big chuck of seafood. The service was quite slow even though it wasn't a busy evening.

Beautiful inside and out. Staff very friendly and helpful. A little pricey though. Saw advertising for being family friendly. Unless there is a kids menu, it would cost a fortune to take a family. For the two of us it was close to $100, but we did have dessert (but only one had anything to drink).

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. Just wanted to let you know that we do have an excellent children's menu that is available through out the day and evening. It is available for viewing on our website. Please note, we do not have a deep fryer, but offer healthier, unprocessed meals for younger foodies. Thank you,... More
