Good food

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Toad River Lodge. I had the bison burger which was pretty good. The service was a little slow however.

I really wish the Shepherd's Inn was in Fort St. John because this little community really needs a superb diner such as this place. I only had a bad meal here once and that was a hamburger (and the burgers are usually really good). It was red in the middle of the patty and residue of blood. I want my... More

A colleague and I were travelling in the area and needed to grab some quick food. We stumbled into this place hungry and grumpy. We left happy and very full! Your first impression may be underwhelming as the atmosphere suits a remote highway diner. As you get settled in though, you realize that you are surrounded by warm and friendly... More

We never drive by the Shepard's Inn without stopping! Home cooking and great baked goods! Always disappointed when we are in that area on a Sunday as it is not open.

The bulk of the main course items are pretty standard and nothing to write home about, but the baked items are where this restaurant excels. It's 40 minutes of north of Fort St. John on the Alaska Highway so it's a bit of a drive unless one is travelling north anyway, but if heading that direction the pie (Strawberry-Rhubarb is... More

In our recent 2,500 mile journey along the Alaska Highway, a few places stood out. This was one of them and the reason is the bannock! Bannock is a simple food that consists of flour, baking powder, water, salt and a bit of fat to cook it in. It's of Scottish origin, although indigenous people also had a type of... More

We have stopped at the Shepherd's Inn at least four times (we live in New Hampshire) and have loved every meal, every sandwich, every breakfast which we have been pleased to order. The bread and pies are out of this world, so fresh and delicious! The staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. If we lived here, we'd be frequent customers.... More

We stopped here for my husband to make a pit stop. I looked at the pie display and asked about rhubarb pie. They had just made one, heated me a big slice to go, and made my day. I do not know a out the rest of the food, but if the pie is any indication, I would return.
