Description: The Hume Hotel has three different food outlets to eat in that offer the same menu and a vast array of food. A family restaurant called the General Store, an intimate fireside lounge featuring live jazz called the Library Lounge or a lively, old English-style bar called Mike's Place Pub. We cook up amazing steaks, pastas, seafood, the '100 Mile Burger', sandwiches, salads and homemade desserts. We are also known for a legendary Sunday Brunch that goes from 11am - 2pm every Sunday. We are popular for our consistency, generous portions, food quality and reasonable prices all to be enjoyed in a character atmosphere that was built in 1898. There is no place like the Hume.

We enjoyed an excellent dinner in this historical setting. The pork tenderloin with wild mushroom sauce we fantastic. The service was very good. Loved the quaint feeling of this lovely lounge. Can't wait to go back.

This was probably our 3rd trip to Nelson in the past 5 or 6 years. We like the City and the People there. On every trip, we've had at least one dinner at the Hume. We did this past trip (last week) as well. If anything, it is better than it has been before, and that IS saying something. The... More

I recently had an excellent breakfast in the General Store Restaurant and the food was fantastic!! Our server was very attentive and friendly, which seems typical of all staff at the Hume. I will highly recommend the Restaurant, the Library Lounge and Mike's Place Pub to all of my friends visiting or living in Nelson.

The service was very good and all 6 of us enjoyed the music, service and food. The Library is where we ate our dinner but if you have children there is another restaurant room adjacent to the adult dining area. The same menu just different decor.

Love our weekend breakfasts here. The Bennies are great and the atmosphere just can't be beat. Wait staff can be a little testy at times but other than that we've no complaints.

According to several of my passengers, they loved the food, ambience, location, & entertainment in the evenings. The hotel is Historic & related to the BW Plus Baker St. Inn.

We went here because of TripAdvisor's high overall rating. The food was good. I had the Butter Chicken, an Indian dish. My husband had a burger. The service was friendly and attentive. But, it was really overpriced. $50 for a simple lunch for two + one pint of beer each in a pub is high to me. Note: The Hume... More

To break down your lunch, this is what you would have paid for the good food: Butter Chicken - $15 + tax 100 Mile Burger - $14 + tax One Pint of Beer - $5 + tax The total of your bill would have been $34 + tax. After tax it would have been $36.20. I am just not sure... More

We enjoyed the food at the restaurant and we sat at a window seat to see some movement. The place was not crowed and we did not feel rush.

Of all the places we ate on our trip this was one of the more memorable ones. The atmosphere in the old hotel was great. The food was really good but what really set it off for us was the live smooth jazz. We liked this so much we ate here both nights we stayed in Nelson.

The Library Lounge is the only place in Nelson where you can dine, sip wine and listed to this smooth jazz that you speak of. You can check out the local talent five nights a week from Sunday through Thursday. Here is the lineup: Sunday - Nikko Monday - Rich Rabnett & Jesse Lee Tuesday - Doug & Melody Wednesday... More

I am really sorry to hear that there was a gap in the service. By your description I can't exactly figure out who it was but we will do our best to keep things sharp over here. Glad you enjoyed the food! Thanks for the review. More
