The Hume Hotel has three different food outlets to eat in that offer the same menu and a vast array of food. A family restaurant called the General Store, an intimate fireside lounge featuring live jazz called the Library Lounge or a lively, old English-style bar called Mike's Place Pub. We cook up amazing steaks, pastas, seafood, the '100 Mile Burger', sandwiches, salads and homemade desserts. We are also known for a legendary Sunday Brunch that goes from 11am - 2pm every Sunday. We are popular for our consistency, generous portions, food quality and reasonable prices all to be enjoyed in a character atmosphere that was built in 1898. There is no place like the Hume.

Quality restaurant / bar as well as great food

This hotel has great ambience.. full of history ! There are several pubs as well as a great quiet restaurant to relax in . Service is great and the staff pay much attention to cleanliness equally inside the hotel and outside. When in Nelson, this hotel is a definite stop, you won't regret it.

The menu here is the same as the adjacent Library Lounge at the Hume. A good selection at reasonable mid-range prices. Service was good, food was great on a busy Saturday evening. My steak sandwich was cooked just right, the fries were really good, a little crispy and not too fat. My daughter really enjoyed her ravioli, said it was... More

We were the first customers and had missed breakfast. The young lady who took care of us said we could have a great omelette with whatever we liked and that filled the breakfast void. 'MJ', seemed to anticipate when to visit and when to retire. Our omelets came and were excellent. The coffee was fresh and strong, not that I... More

The Hume Hotel is an awesome place to go for an intimate dinner or a family feast. The Sunday brunch is simply amazing and not to be missed. I especially enjoy going for a nice dinner in the library lounge when they have live musicians playing for ambience . The decor and stone fireplace add to the experience. I highly... More

Parts of the hotel, like the Library smelt musty because of its age, but the dining room was clean and modern. The food was good and the service was fine,

Your review is quite odd. Our lounge smells musty and our dining room is modern? Our dining room is anything but modern. It is decorated in turn of the century artifacts and antiques. Our lounge is not musty. You must have us mixed up with some other modern heritage hotel. More

We enjoyed the ambiance, service and food at the Hume Hotel Lounge. My husband ordered the steak and it was tender and full of flavour. I ordered the halibut and enjoyed it very much. The service was excellent. We enjoyed this historical building!

Have come here many times before and had always loved the food, but not this time though. I had cabbage rolls.. Kind of soggy and the veggies were a bit overcooked. I felt that even the service was a bit slower than usual. Was very disappointed. I hope that my next visit here will be better.

Sorry to hear that you weren't happy with the Cabbage Rolls. Hopefully you let the server know so they could have adjusted the bill or got you something else...They have been a staple on the menu for years and it's not often we get complaints on them. Definitely give us another try so we can blow you away with our... More

We went to the Hume restaurant for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. My husband had the veal cutlets and I had the salmon. Both were very tasty and the veggies were perfectly cooked. There is even a gluten-free menu available. The salad bar had fresh vegetables and a variety of salads to choose from.
