The Hume Hotel has three different food outlets to eat in that offer the same menu and a vast array of food. A family restaurant called the General Store, an intimate fireside lounge featuring live jazz called the Library Lounge or a lively, old English-style bar called Mike's Place Pub. We cook up amazing steaks, pastas, seafood, the '100 Mile Burger', sandwiches, salads and homemade desserts. We are also known for a legendary Sunday Brunch that goes from 11am - 2pm every Sunday. We are popular for our consistency, generous portions, food quality and reasonable prices all to be enjoyed in a character atmosphere that was built in 1898. There is no place like the Hume.

always interesting

I have stayed at the Hume in the past but recently have just been going for the food and drinks. It is a classic old style western bar. The food is better than you might expect from a bar. Always a bunch of TVs playing the sports of the day. You might want to avoid the rooms directly above the... read more

Dinner at the Hume is my birthday treat every year. The food is excellent, no matter what you order. The service is great and all the staff are very friendly and cheerful. It is simply the best restaurant in Nelson, in my opinion.

Great hotel in so many ways. Centrally located and close by lots of wonderful places to eat. Hotel décor maintains it's old town feel but completely renovated to modern design standards. Rooms very spacious and tastefully redone. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Cooked to order breakfast tasted great. Other reviews have mentioned noise as a problem but was not an... More

Thanks for this glowing review of our property. The cooked to order breakfast has always been a big hit with all overnight guests, especially because it's free! We appreciate you choosing the Hume. More

For the area, there aren't many places better to eat, in my opinion than the Hume. The decor is a big sell and it seems like they have gone out of their way to make it feel like a blast from the past. Recommended.

We had a business dinner with a big group. I had the fish and chips with fries and salat. The beer was very tasty. Friendly stuff. It can be a bit full. The place is very liked by locals and tourist alike. No one in the group had any complaints about their food. Very nice pizza too.

The Hume is an awesome historic hotel in the heart of town. We had a great room, with two spacious and separate bedrooms (2 queens). Each had its own TV. Appreciated the nice touches in the hotel lobby and otherwise, and enjoyed a good complimentary breakfast. There are a couple solid bar options within the hotel, too.

A beautiful hotel that takes you back in time to the 1920's and shows you what opulence and class looked like back in the day. You can't help but feel important when staying in this hotel. That by no means says that the people here a bunch of stuffy shirts, if you know what I mean. The staff and patrons... More
