A recent trip to Baldface Lodge left us in Nelson overnight. I always try to find cool unique restaurants and Bibo exceeded our expectations. Imaginative food perfectly executed with a quirky and eccentric tiny dining room. Service was not perfect but was solid without mistakes, timing was a little on the longer side, but for this type of cuisine in... More

We choose this venue because of it's reputation. It was in a rustic old brick buiding at the end of a street, in what can be called a quaint location. The venue itself is attractive and warm with a few nooks and crannies. The bar is tasteful and a pleasant place to have a beverage if waiting to be seated. We... More

We spend a couple nights in Nelson every January or February. It was the third time at Bibo, last night. It was our anniversary and I had reserved a few weeks ago. June had arranged a lovely table; our server, Michael was excellent; and the food was the best of all three times. An outstanding anniversary dinner! Highly recommend Bibo,... More

My wife and I have been to Bibo over a dozen times in the past two years and have found the food consistently excellent, with a very occasional faux pas [e.g. I don't find the saffron risotto a good match for the tuna tartare on the current menu]. It's in an old house, and they have done well with the... More

We appreciate your lovely review and that you visit us so frequently. We look forward to seeing you next time and strive to remain "consistently excellent". That night we were trying out that Orofino Syrah, by the way, and have since added it to our wine list so we won't run out! Cheers! June More

After making reservations weeks in advance our night had finally came and we were so exited. We hadn't eaten there since our rehearsal dinner 1 1/2 years before. When we walked in the door the manager took our jackets and led us to a very cramped table right against the old door with no weather stripping. There was a very... More

My wife and I were visiting my son who is working in the Kootenays, and decided to try the Bibo because it was ranked very highly in local reviews. We booked a reservation earlier in the day for a Sunday evening dinner at 7 PM, and I would recommend readers also reserve a table. By 8 PM the place was... More

Great food, looked after us despite not reserving seats with backs and having a back problem, then having to be moved. Our last night in Nelson, was a great evening

On a busy Saturday night, my partner and I went to Bibo's. We heard there was a new chef. The place was full so the host suggested we sit at the bar or use the table for 4 that he had been reserved....the guests were due to arrive in an hour. Long story short...we stayed at the table, had impeccable... More

I found the atmosphere here to be cozy, warm and delightful, but the food was lacking flavor and seasoning. We started with the fish board and it was simply bland. The pickled trout had no flavor, and had bones. The oysters were Luke warm and had no sauce, and were very fishy. The tuna tartare- same. Flat and no flavor.... More

I apologize our food did not meet your expectations. One of our chefs tends to cook on the simpler side to let the natural flavours of the fresh, fine, ingredients we use, come through. We don't tend to use overpowering sauces or complicate our dishes with too many ingredients. Having said that, we also strive to make the dishes flavourful... More
