This is one of those places where looks really good but the food was not good enough to praise it and not bad enough to complain about it..we just would try to find another place while in town!

We dined at Kalvas (The Log House) on Saturday evening for my husbands birthday and had a wonderful meal. My husband had the Pan Seared Salmon with a Cream Sauce and I had the Panko Crusted Halibut for the first time and it was the best. You just can't beat this team, Adel the owner and Chef and his wife,... More

Kalvas restaurant is likely Parksville's best restaurant.Very cozy and good service. Too bad about the Bouillabaisse, that i ordered.Obviously one cannot get a Bouillabaisse a la Marseille here. Not the same seafood available here. However spanish saffron is easily available.Yes it is the most expensive spice there is,but a few treads go a long way.And saffron is a must in any bouillbaise.Too bad... Thank you for your informative comments, and…we agree! Kalva’s is now serving our bouillabaisse with real saffron threads. After a bit of research, we discovered that saffron makes the dish. Kalva’s looks forward to having you as our guest again to try it! More

Not great reviews from folks we know. All comparing it to the previous owners who ran an very good shop. Food is ok but pricey.

We appreciate your comments, but I must say it is difficult to learn how to improve from generalities. For example, how many of your ‘folks’ are you talking about, and what are they talking about? A little bit of background: Chef Chmait and his wife have been operating the business for over 8 years with constant improvements and a management... More

This is a super quiet, beautiful log home style restaurant with some amazing seafood. Went for a birthday dinner. The servers were great as was there atmosphere. The seafood was cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back!

My husband and I thought we'd give Kalvas a try, as it was Prime Rib night. We waited a few minutes to be greeted and seated, as we watched staff quickly move about the restaurant. Seating is close in Kalvas, unless you can reserve something in a corner. We could hear the people's conversation sitting next to us,which was annoying.... More

Kalva’s appreciates your comments. Yet we are truly puzzled about your impression of flavorless prime rib, because we go through so much garlic we should have shares in a garlic company! We only buy Canada AAA or Reserved Angus beef, which are the top grades for best flavor and marbling for tenderness. We slowly cook it for at least 7... More

We joined very good friends on their recommendation to eat dinner at Kalvas. The salads were large but very tasty. We shared the roasted golden beet and the balsamic onions and goat cheese. Very enjoyable! My wife had the halibut and I had the the filet. Both very tasty and well presented. My only negative experience was the server who... More

Our first visit to Kalvas was a little disappointing. (I wish there were a "Good" rating in between "Average" and "Very Good".) The menu is promising but the results were mixed: the Steamed Clams & Mussels Natural were excellent, but the Veal Schnitzel was a bit ordinary and the Rack of Lamb was a bit over-sauced (my own fault for...
