We were camping in the area, and my Mom came to stay at the Sandcastle Inn right next door. So when looking for a place to eat, Kalvas was the first place that jumped to mind. It happened to be a Friday, and the sign by the road proclaimed the Prime Rib special, so that pretty much sealed the deal.... More

We have been in Parksville three days and struggled to find fresh seafood that wasn't battered and deep fried. Kalvas more than exceeded out expectations. Fresh delicious food, friendly waitress and good prices (5 adults 2 kids = $162 with appies). Definitely a must ea of you want good food in Parksville.

Unfortunately my family couldn't enjoy the food since we weren't served! Stood at the front for 10 mins ( no lineup) before being seated. Then sat at our table another 20 mins without being served as much as water, never mind being able to order an appetizer or glass of wine. Unfortunately there were two other tables in the same... I visited Kalvas again for our monthly night out this time we had the Lobster platter for two .. the large sized lobster was perfectly cooked and the fish was moist and tasty .. Our waiter Jon went above and beyond to make our dinning experience a time to remember

The quality and taste of the food was inconsistent. Mody of the dishes were good, but some were just average. The cherry sauce with the lamb was excellent but the chef struggled to cook the chops to the right temp. I was impressed that they wanted to get it right and tried a couple of times. The steak was good... More

The Parksville are has one really good restaurant and it is not Kalvas. I had the wiener schnitzel and it was very greasy and not browned on both sides. The plate was heaped with spetzel and red cabbage gravy soaked. Not very pleasant. The atmosphere is very pleasant and perhaps if you order something else it would be a better... More

Thank you for visiting Kalva’s and taking the time to inform us of your experience, because this is how we learn to be more vigilant about what the guest receives. Having said that, it is difficult for us to comment on food after the fact. Our servers ask our guests a few times how their meal is during their dining... More

After reading all the reviews this place sounded really good. For the price of the meals there isn't enough character space to here to describe the gap between that and expectations. I don't know how many times the 'helper' and waitress walked by with water but didn't bother to fill up our glasses. With our bill over $100.00, I thought... More

Thank you for visiting Kalva’s and taking the time to inform us of your experience. Yes, you should have expected better service, and that new server who did meet your expectation, did not meet ours either. She is no longer employed at Kalva’s. The busboy, well, that was his first night of work with us, and possibly his first employment... More

Came here for a bachelorette party, chose based on trip advisor and proximity to our hotel. All four of us will be coming back here for date nights and just for fun. Amazing food and the service was impeccable. This is what service should be and isn't anymore. Good came quickly and we all agreed we wanted to order it... More

We tried Kalvas because of the recommendations on trip advisor. It was like eating in the eighties. It was also confusing - Greek sounding name, steak and seafood tag line, note German influence more than anything. Hearty portions, heavy sauces, but nothing exceptional here. The service was good on a busy summer's night, but not somewhere we would go back... More

Thank you for coming to Kalva’s and for providing your comments, which we seriously consider. I am the chef and owner of Kalva’s, and kept the name when I took it over from its original German owner about 7 years ago. And yes, there are a few old favorites kept because regulars want them. Yet there are constant improvements made... More
