We've eaten here several times. Mostly on a Friday night for the prime rib which is always great. It can be quiet here and then at other times super busy. The service is good and the staff friendly and helpful.

We last ate here in the "log cabin" restaurant about 10 years ago and it was ho-hum mediocre. Last week we decided to try again and my how things have changed. The menu has been redone and it has been heavily influenced by seafood with a nod to those who like beef and other non-seafood entries. The emphasis is on... More

Very cozy restaurant, like a large log cabin. Convenient location on the main road in Parksville. Upscale dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Mid to high range prices, but well prepared.

Very nice atmosphere. Excellent service. I really liked the food too. I would definitely go again. It is located in a very nice part of town. Easy to get to, just off the highway.

Based on TripAdvisor reviews decided to give this a chance. Several writers were understated. We were warmly greeted, seated (on request) next to the fireplace, and had a great time. The decor was rustic as described, fitting to the area. We both had seafood selections which were great. If we lived locally, we would definitely come back.

I have waited to review this till our fifth visit as I kept hearing great things, but in honesty I cannot see it. This time the family went for Christmas dinner - the service was good (more 4 rating than 3) but that was the best it has been. Food was mediocre and standard. Seafood grill was overcooked, seafood stew... More

Kalva's appreciates your comments. While we are always looking at ways to improve food, service and decor, regretfully we cannot please all. Just a few days ago, one guest wanted things the way they were with the first restaurant owner a decade ago. While we check each plate before it goes out for temperature, doneness and flavor, on that rare... More

Excellent ambience, excellent cuisine. Don't miss this gem hiding in a log structure on the main drag. Have been many times but most recent visit included wonderful service, nice wine options, delicious dishes and a pleasing quiet evening despite the fact that they were very busy. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone, foodie or not, any age... More

"Comfy"atmosphere. Christmas dinner was good.... tender turkey and good trimmings. Partner had the Onion soup which he quite liked, and rated as good. The appetizer - Oysters Rockefellar was pretty pathetic! at $10? NOT EVEN CLOSE to a real Rockefellar. a couple soggy oysters covered with some spinach on a bed of rice. YUCK !

Thank you so much for letting us know about your experience - good and bad - at Kalva's. We do not know how that one oyster Rockefeller got past 3 sets of eyes before going out. We are quite proud, and very careful, of every single plate that goes out. Although it is no excuse at all, Christmas night was... More

We made our reservations for Christmas Day at KALVAS in November and they were already quite booked. That's because, it is fabulous. We were a party of 4. We arrived on time, were seated quickly, and our server was at the table quickly to take our drink order. There was a turkey dinner, but no set menu. You could order... More
