Good breakfast, awful coffee

Good reliable breakfast, eggs perfect every time, seasoned potato hash browns, and thoughfully prepared, but the coffee is and has been forever watery crap in this day and age of good strong up-market brew. Cream needed to play down the grey coffee appearance. Thumpy ceiling mounted boom box seems... read more

A simple burger and fries type of diner that is the perfect gathering spot for locals to swap stories over coffee on a rainy afternoon (speaking of coffee, they need to invest in some cream as milk just doesn't do it for me!) The burger was home made and tasty as were the fries, nothing really special but good non... More

Liking the name we tried Farmhouse for breakfast. It is full of crazy salt & pepper shakers, probably the most memorable part of our visit. We ordered bacon & eggs and that is what we got. The bacon was ordinary, the eggs were ordinary (not even farm eggs) and the breakfast potatoes were deep fried. The best part of our... More

4 of us ate breakfast here. One person loved the pancakes. The eggs, hash browns and toast were good. Nothing exceptional, just basic food. No complaints except that they were out of cinnamon buns. I didn't try the coffee because of previous posts complaining that it was weak. 2 of our glasses were dirty.

If you like good home-style food go to the Farnhouse. Excellent breakfast items. Closes early in afternoon.

This is a little Restraunt worth stopping at. The fries are homemade and fresh cut and the burger patties are hand made. The toppings are fresh and your choice of melted cheddar or swiss cheese. The waitress was really friendly and the service was prompt. The name says it all. Home style cooking and food prep. Homemade cinnimon buns and... More

We were just cruising around looking for a place to eat that was not a fast food and discovered this place. It is located in a small strip mall beside Quality Foods. It is not a large place and seats about 30 comfortably but can get tight fitting over that number. Prices are mid range around 8 to12 dollars. Unbelievable... More

Somehow I ended up at the Farmhouse Cafe twice this past week for lunch, with different people. I was hoping I would like it, because I love the small town homey, greasy spoon atmosphere, the prices are decent and it was cosy warm. I need a sweater on it seems in most restaurants. However, both times the filling in all... More

We went for breakfast and were all very impressed with the food. The menu is pretty basic but you can tell a lot of love goes in to making it. My poached eggs were perfectly done to my liking, (I haven't had a lot of luck with that lately) the pan fries were actually pan fried potatoes, not deep fried... More

We were looking for a small quick lunch, and there it was - on your left going south, or on your right going north on the Island Highway in Parksville. The soup was what any good green pea soup should be - and the sandwich truly added to how a surprisingly satisfying light lunch could be. Big smiles, a pleasant... More
