Hits the spot!

This was a great place to eat. This is a must do if you are visiting Port Alberni! The staff were friendly (and even stayed open late for some customers who arrived after closing). They were very busy when we went and you could tell they needed some more hands on deck but they made the best of it... read more

We had lunch at this restaurant. While this is primarily a fish and chips place, they also offer grilled options. I had grilled salmon with cole slaw and caesar salad (no fries) with lemon and dill sauce. The grilled salmon was super tasty and the salads were fresh and crispy. Nothing drowning in mayo. The restaurant is very clean and... More

Dropped in to eat lunch on way to Tofino. Never have seen a fish and chip spot where you can choose from three types of fish -salmon, cod or haddock- and three types of batter- pinko, traditional, and I forgot the other. My husband and I had the panko haddock with fries and coleslaw. Being a maritimer I am fussy... More

Nice selection of fish, chips and salad. Each of the sauces are excellent. Easy access and good parking.

We have never eaten better fish than here in Bare Bones Fish and Chips! The menu is small but everything is fresh. We have been there for two evenings and the staff is very, very friendly. We tried grilled salmon and halibut both were very tasty. A.C. was very helpful by chosing the right dips for us and gave us... More

We were on our way from Nanimo to Ucluelet, and decided to stop for my Dad's 94th birthday lunch. Found great reviews for Bare Bones and decided to give it a try. Mom and Dad split the 2-piece Halibut, English batter style, and we split the 2-piece Halibut grilled. The kitchen split the orders for us, a very nice touch.... More

Delicious fish and chips place in an old church. Their tag line is In Cod we Trust, clever. Had the one piece Halibut, traditional style. one piece was plenty with the generously portioned French fries and slaw. Good tap beer. The lemon and dill sauce was really tasty. My plate was $13, plus beer.

Recommended by our daughter and son-in-law. Awesome value - one piece cod, chips and slaw $9.50. Huge plate of great fish & chips. Service was fantastic. Cannot wait to return. Had the English style batter will definitely try the Panko batter next time.
