Best fish and chips ever!!!

You won't be disappointed The My wife and I loved it so much, we ate there twice in two days. The building it is in, is a old retired church. It has character. My wife loved the salmon and I had the Halibut. They offer different ways of preparing the fish. I had it in traditional batter and... read more

Driving by, you might almost miss Bare Bones, which is set inside an old church. They don't have a lot of seats, but the food is incredible. Healthy options, great beer, and the best fish and chips I've ever had.

Bare Bones Fish & Chips restaurant is in Port Alberni B.C. A happen-chance find while on a day trip on Valentines Day. This restaurant is unique; situated in an old church sanctuary. Although reservations are not normally required; today being Valentines Day; they were using a reservation system - complete with the decor - nonetheless, the ladies made every effort... More

I eat at Bare Bones as often as possible. The food is always fresh. I have never had a bad meal. Being a Celiac, it's hard to find a restaurant that has tasty gluten-free food. Their grilled salmon is gluten free and delicious!. They also use a different oil for cooking their battered fish and cooking their fries making it... More

Friendly fast service in this renovated church setting with several choices for fish and chips was a pleasant surprise for our party. The coleslaw was great- a 'small' portion turned out to be enormous. Even the one piecers were unable to finish these ample meals. I would like to replicate the spray vinegar containers at home. To be sure, we... More

The restaurant is located inside a previously small church, with is cathedral windows. The place is bright, very clean, and the services is great. On the menu, one has 3 choices of fish: cod, halibut, or salmon. Then one can select among 3 styles of cooking: English, breaded, or fire grill. In addition to the regular tartar sauce, one has... My husband and I had the opportunity to stop here this past summer. We had shrimp skewers, halibut and salmon. The fish was tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed the choice of sauces. It was a pleasant change to be able to order healthy food in a fish and chip restaurant. The portions were generous, the staff friendly and decor fun.... More

Best fish and chips anywhere! Where else do you get multiple choices of type of fish, coating, method of cooking and sauces. Just fantastic.

We Shared a two piece panko grilled Halibut, with a salad. More than enough for us to share and fill up. Great tasting fish, the coleslaw was really homemade and yummy. Will definitely be back when we go through Port Alberni again!
