The Black Spoon Bistro is a must eat at location if you are visiting Cape Breton well worth the drive. The food is amazing the prices are very reasonable, and the staff go above and beyond to ensure your meal is amazing! We can't say enough great things about the food, soups are always fresh and interesting and the Panini's... More

We really enjoyed this bistro. The service was quite good and the food was excellent. The portions were generous without being excessive. The haddock almondine was moist with perfectly grilled vegetables. The blackened seafood medley was excellent and the garlic mashed was a pleasant change from the usual rice option for such a dish. The presentation of our dishes was... More

Everytime we want to go anywhere for lunch or for a more fancy meal in the evening, we always drive the extra 15 minutes from Sydney to North Sydney to go to the Black Spoon! I love their veggie panini and house salad, and their soup of the day is always delicious!

For a small village, North Sydney can boast of more than one place for fine dining; this is one of the best. Dinner is always a delight here, but we prefer going out for lunch. We have eaten here often because of the wonderful salads, my spouse's favorite food. This is one of the few restaurants that can serve her... More

Stop for lunch at the Black Spoon and you'll think you have been transported to a chic urban neighborhood. The staff seem to enjoy their jobs and the flavour comes through in every meal. No fish and chips here but if you are willing to spend $15 on lunch and want to savour the taste of fresh imaginative ingredients, the... More

So glad we discovered this little spot on trip advisor. It is conveniently located a few minutes from the ferry terminal and offers an extensive menu. The servers were friendly and helpful offering suggestions. A great way to spend a few hours before boarding the boat!

We arrived in North Sydney on a rainy day in May and the city looked quiet and sleeping. Our host in the B&B recommended us this bistro. What can I say? We were so surprised. Nice location with only few tables and a wooden floor. Friendly staff and amazing food. We had a lobsterdip and a caesar salad as Starters,... More
