Description: The Nova Scotian Emporium & Fireside Tearoom is located in the heart of Truro's downtown shopping district. Its embossed tin ceilings, wainscoting and hardwood floors are original to the c.1890 building. While enjoying lunch or dessert, take in the excellent array of giftware, kitchen gadgets, bedding, baby products, and fine Nova Scotia products in the gift shop on the adjacent two floors. We have an onsite bakery and do special orders/catering for any occasion. The Tearoom features soups made daily, fresh salads, seafood chowder, frittatas, specials and 'almost sinful' desserts baked daily in our own oven. We take great pride in offering you the freshest ingredients in our menu selections. For the tea enthusiast, we offer 15+ blends of teas, including several herbals.

If you want the Maritimes you've found it. Fantastic home cooked food with fantastic homemade desserts. A whole in the wall that you will be happy you found.

I had a homemade soup and sandwich for lunch and it was very good. Dessert was delicious, too. A nice quite spot for friends to meet for lunch.

Came here on the advice of Trip Advisor reviewers. We weren't disappointed with the food (with two exceptions), but the prices were a bit outrageous. I had the spinach salad with blueberries and pecans. There were lots of blueberries and pecans in it, so no complaints there. One of the other people I was with had a generously portioned tuna... I went for a sandwich for lunch (twice actually in July 2014). Excellent both times - first was an egg salad and second was a salmon sandwich. The outside isn't much to look at. And inside you might miss the little cafe nook in the back. But the food was simple, fresh (fresh bread, fresh ingredients, freshly made once you... More

Reasonably priced and always delicious! If you have room for desert it is great! The soup is fresh and the menu has a variety of choices for even picky eaters.

I was in Truro on business last week, and a local friend strongly recommended I grab some lunch here. I'm so glad she did! The Fireside Tea Room is a tiny little corner of a large, beautiful store, the Nova Scotia Emporium. The tin ceiling is gorgeous! I heard the soup highly recommended, but I went with the quiche of...
