Description: The Nova Scotian Emporium & Fireside Tearoom is located in the heart of...
The Nova Scotian Emporium & Fireside Tearoom is located in the heart of Truro's downtown shopping district. Its embossed tin ceilings, wainscoting and hardwood floors are original to the c.1890 building. While enjoying lunch or dessert, take in the excellent array of giftware, kitchen gadgets, bedding, baby products, and fine Nova Scotia products in the gift shop on the adjacent two floors. We have an onsite bakery and do special orders/catering for any occasion. The Tearoom features soups made daily, fresh salads, seafood chowder, frittatas, specials and 'almost sinful' desserts baked daily in our own oven. We take great pride in offering you the freshest ingredients in our menu selections. For the tea enthusiast, we offer 15+ blends of teas, including several herbals.

Don't miss the lobster salad (and everything else is great)

Wow what a wonderful surprise. We got a recommendation for the tea house while on the way to Halifax airport. Most people come here for a pie and cake and tea but lunch was surprisingly delicious as well. We wanted something light. We had the spinach feta quiches, and some salads. Sandwiches are to die for!!! Extremely tasty and fresh. Lots to see in the store as well. Prices are a little high, but so worth it.

This little restaurant, tucked away inside the Nova Scotia Emporium, is one of my most favourite spots to take friends, or new visitors to Truro. I've eaten lunch here many times, but most often I go for the desserts. Even if I've eaten a meal somewhere else, I'll suggest we head to the Fireside for something special and sweet. Everything... Came here on the advice of Trip Advisor reviewers. We weren't disappointed with the food (with two exceptions), but the prices were a bit outrageous. I had the spinach salad with blueberries and pecans. There were lots of blueberries and pecans in it, so no complaints there. One of the other people I was with had a generously portioned tuna... I went for a sandwich for lunch (twice actually in July 2014). Excellent both times - first was an egg salad and second was a salmon sandwich. The outside isn't much to look at. And inside you might miss the little cafe nook in the back. But the food was simple, fresh (fresh bread, fresh ingredients, freshly made once you... More

Reasonably priced and always delicious! If you have room for desert it is great! The soup is fresh and the menu has a variety of choices for even picky eaters.

It is a quaint little hideaway tearoom inside an old fashioned store downtown Truro! All their food is great but I always go for their quiche!!!!In winter time their hot apple cider by the fireplace is also a favorite of mine and they also sell homemade baked goods!!!!! Upstairs at during the Xmas season you will find unique gifts or... More
