As I understand it, Saltscapes closed in October as a result of not being able to attract adcequate trained staff.

This is not a review but a heads up that Saltscape Restaurant closed in October 2014 as I understand it as a result of an inability to attract adequate trained staff. Folksplanning a visit should check their website, or phone, for any update on plans to re-open.

Small local owned and operated restaurant. Enjoyed the seafood linguine in a garlic, dill and lemon cream sauce.. definitely homemade and plentiful. Enough for 2 meals. The baked seafood platter and the fish and chips were also enjoyable. While generous with the seafood, the baked seafood casserole need a more flavourful and robust sauce. Would not recommend their version of... More

None of us had ever come before, the first thing we noticed was how loud and echoey the dining room was. We had to shout to each other and somehow could hear people across the room better than ourselves. The waitress sat us, then sat two other tables, took their orders, and forgot us. When we were about to leave... More

In our frequent travels between New Glasgow and Halifax, we often look for a reasonably-priced restaurant that's a quick in-and-out from the highway. Saltscapes certainly met the convenience test, so we tried it last night. The decor was nice, and we had no issues with the service, but otherwise there wasn't much else positive to say. The evening menu was... More

I was underwhelmed by the seafood casserole, and the kids' fish and chips were very greasy. It was not a terrible experience, but perhaps my expectations were too high because of the comparison to Cracker Barrel, which we love. The menu is much less robust, the atmosphere is less authentic, and the "general store" was mostly cheap knock knacks and... More

Stopped in for lunch in the middle of a business trip. It was mid afternoon (2:00 pm) and really quiet. Had a booth to myself, had the chowder and sandwich. Chowder was good and the sandwich excellent. service was great and attentive, and they let me monopolize a booth for an hour and a half to complete a report and... More

Food was very good, the service was great, No complaints what so ever! I would go there regularly no problem.

Don't bother eating here. My son and his wife had pan fried haddock which they said actually tasted like it was bad. The vegetables tasted like they were from a can. The people at the next table hardly touched their food before getting up and leaving.....terrible food and fairly expensive....by the looks of the other comments, I don't know how... More

I ate with a group of 6. I don't think there were any favourable comments. Myself and another lady had the lobster roll, both of us agreed that it was totally devoid of flavour, and both of us had slightly bad tummies the next day. The lobster roll that I had at Superstore for $5.99 was actually tastier, albeit less... More

My wife and I decided to go here because we had been to this place years ago, but we learned the hard way that it was now a completely different restaurant. They guy who greeted us when we first went in was very friendly, and our waitress was okay, although not very attentive. I completely enjoyed the decor, but that... More
